Little Cat Birthday...

Hey,

I had a very successful flea market yesterday - $38 not bad considering I was selling for 25cents or 50cents.

It was fun to have Lisette hanging with me and being the mistress of stall display! Where was she back in the day when I used to do craft fairs?!

Today I am playing along with The Paper Players, they have a Tic-Tac-Toe challenge one of my faves..

I opted for the diagonal left to right line - Circle, Die-cut and Flower.

First I stamped and coloured (with Zigs) one of the Cats from my new Mama Elephant, Little Cat Agenda stamp set. I love these teeny tiny little kitties.

I die-cut it using a stitched circle die by Simon Says Stamp.

I am hoping my flower 'interpretation' will count! I used a Spellbinders scalloped circle die and a SSS stitched circle die to create the petals of my flower - the Cat circle is the centre of the flower.

The sentiment is made up of a Technique Tuesday stamp and a Tim Holtz die-cut.

I think it will make a great birthday card for my Niece Florence.

Crafty Like a Ninja...

Hey,

Happy Saturday to you all. The sunshine has been out in force in NYC since yesterday and it is glorious!

Today I am running a little stand at the Stuytown Fleamarket, hoping to divest myself of some things that have been hanging around the apartment for too long.

Today's card is for a friend to say thank you for various things. Like me said friend is a crafter and I thought she would love this stamp (no idea who it's by) - despite it featuring a needle, which is not her fave method of crafting!

I stamped the Ninja and then die-cut the whole thing using a MFT scalloped stitched rectangle die. The scalloped frame separates from the middle section.

I thought it would be fun to decorate the frame and used a tiny spot stamp and just randomly stamped all over the frame, only re-inking when there really was no ink left on the stamp.

I love that it looks like pebbles and it really pops against the bright backdrop of the Lawn Fawn card blank.

Enjoy the sunshine and the weekend.

Hello There Kitty...

Hey,

Happy Friday.

I hope you have all had a better week than me :( I have had a rotten cold, just coming out through the other side of it.

When I was in London I could not resist a little trip to one of my fave stores Paperchase... I try not to buy anything full price when I am there, as I really do not need any more stationery..

But when I saw this set of stamps on sale, I could not resist -

They are so simple and elegant.

I wanted to make a little card for my parents and I thought this set would be great for them.

I coloured the image using Zigs and then die-cut it out using an MFT stitched oval die. The sentiment is by Simon Says Stamp and is from the Sketchy Banner Greetings set - which has two sketchy banner dies - I don't think they do the stamps anymore.

I love these mini kraft card blanks and JT buys them for me, as I can't get them in the US.

Cute card to say thanks for fun times.

Have a great weekend, I am doing the Stuytown flea market tomorrow - I'm at pitch 271, if you want to come and say hi ;)

You Are Amazeballs...

Hey,

I really liked the colours over at CAS-ual Friday's current challenge -

I instantly thought of my new Mixed Media Flower stamps by Carabelle. I stamped the smaller flower in pink and fussy cut it out.

I then embossed the navy cardstock, using a large Sizzix spots folder, but only embossed half of it, so I could fit the sentiment on. I die-cut it down to the final shape using a stitched rectangle die.

I heat embossed the sentiment in white - it is actually a CAS-ual Fridays stamp set called 'Amazeballs' that I have had for a few years, but it is currently going through a resurrection in my craft room!

After mounting the navy panel to my card blank, I added the flower with some foam tape and two clear droplets..I know these are being TOTALLY overused.

I love it, the pop of colour against the navy is so nice..more of this methinks.

Super Kids...

Hey,

When we were in the UK recently, we got to hang out with our Niece and Nephew (Florence and Otis) and their parents.

I wanted to send them a card to say how lovely it was to see them all.

I had already coloured and cut the little super heroes from the Lil Inkers Super Kids set and thought these would make a fun card.

I stamped a striped background by Prima Marketing onto a piece of kraft card and die-cut it twice, once with the rounded stitched rectangle die and the peek a boo window die - both by MFT.

I then added a shaker pouch I already had and mounted it onto the stripey card blank using foam tape.

The super kids were then strategically placed, as the shaker pouch was slightly too small for the window :) I added initials to the super kids for a bit of fun.

Final step was the just happened to match stickers for the sentiment - these are quite old, a couple of years ago I bought a bumper mixed pack of stickers from AC Moore that I divided between JT and I, there was so much in there, I am still discovering random things!

Fun card to say thanks for a fun visit with the little ones, who are not so little anymore and a total hoot!

Retro Rubber Challenge #61 Button It...

Hey,

Time for another fun challenge with the Retro Rubber team.

This time we have a theme for you..

I love buttons and have a huge button stash, part of my stash belonged to my Grandmother.

This card was made using a mix of old and new stash items. The newer items (Enamel Accents and embossing folder are from JT).

The sentiment and the die are from 2015 and are by Mama Elephant 'Friend Indeed' set, I love this set, the sentiments are very handy.

I dug through my button stash to find a button that coordinated with my card blank. I added little dots of enamel accents to make the right-hand side of the card a bit more interesting.

I love how the friend die-cut pops against both the embossed panel and the card blank.

I sent this card to a friend a while ago and recently when I was in London and visited her new home, it was on her kitchen noticeboard - how awesome is that!

Your turn to show us your button creations, but first go over to Retro Rubber and see what my teammates have made.

Challenge ends on May 5th, don't forget to use a stamp a year or older and tell us all about it, that's the fun part right? Also, please limit your challenge entries to 10 including ours.

Thanks

Happy Weekend...

Hey,

Happy Monday to you all.

The weather is very Spring like today in NYC, making me all smiley and happy.

I had a great weekend, starting with dinner at a friends on Friday, then Lisette came and helped me tame the closet beast on Saturday. She is a drill sergeant and I purged A LOT of stuff, some things I have been 'holding' on to since we moved from London?! The weekend closed out nicely with a playdate with the craftgang and some hang time with Hubby.

My card today I actually made whilst I was on sick leave. I bought a grab bag of stuff from Pink Fresh Studio and all the stickers that you see were in the bag.

I started out with the embossed large dots background and then die-cut the word happy onto some black cardstock and then die-cut it out using a bubble die, I added the white dots and a piece of pink card behind the word to make it pop.

Before mounting it onto my card I added a few of the stickers from one of the sets in the grab bag.

I elected for 'weekend' as I thought it would make a fun card to send to a friend.

I used to use this embossing folder all the time, I need to break it out more, it gives a great simple texture to cards.

Throwing down some bright colours...

Hey,

I had a fun day hanging out with the craftgang at Jamey's studio today.

As usual I ate too much, but I had a very productive day, more about that next week.

Tonight I am entering the latest Color Throwdown challenge -

I fell in love with the super cheery and bright colours.

I decided it would be fun to use the great watercolour brushstrokes background stamp by Stampin' Up to create my focal point.

I recreated the colours using Distress Inks - Barn Door, Carved Pumpkin and Mustard Seed. I die-cut the awesome (by Frantic Stamper) out of a piece of purple cardstock.

Once I had positioned the awesome die-cut in place, I stamped 'Hey Friend' (by Impression Obsession).

As I am OBSESSED with Pretty Pink Posh clear droplets right now I added a couple to my card.

It's going in the post to a friend tomorrow.

Sketch Saturday #460...Relaxing...

Hey,

So it's time for another great Sketch Saturday...

Our sponsor this week is Digital Stamp Boutique and they are offering a £10 gift certificate for their store.

Here is the sketch.

I really liked the Alyssa relaxing stamp and felt like a perfect fit for the sketch.

I decided to go with a muted lilac / purple colour palette and that informed all my paper / colouring choices. I embossed the deep purple background using a Sizzix spot folder, the floral strip is from my scrap box and by Pink Petticoat.

I printed Alyssa a couple of times in different sizes, as I wasn't sure which dies I wanted to use. I settled for ancient Spellbinders Labels 4 dies and die-cut the two panels.

My final touches were the fun sentiment by Hero Arts, some stickles and a blingy purple heart.

This has already left my desk and is on its way to a friend.

What will you do with the sketch? Check out what the rest of the DT have made over at Sketch Saturday.

Challenge ends 28 April 7pm GMT / 2pm EST

Too early?

Hey,

Happy Friday!

It has been a short week for me, so it's a bit cheeky to be glad that it is Friday, but I am.

Last month I bought a few new things from Lil Inkers, I coloured most of them including today's card as part of the 30 days of colouring.

I fell in love with the 'Oh Deer' stamp set and had to have it, it seemed a tad early for a Christmas card make, but I really wanted to colour it.

Isn't it gorgeous?

I used Zigs and an aquabrush - I have to keep reminding myself that Zigs work as watercolours.

I thought it was so beautiful that it should be made into a super simple card, so I die-cut it using a circle die and affixed it to a square craft blank.

I think I'll be making a lot of these come ACTUAL Christmas card making time.

Have a great weekend, I am hanging with the Craftgang on Sunday and tomorrow Lisette is coming to help me tackle the closet beast (ugh).

Craftgang March Playdate..

Hey,

I am a bit late posting these cards, especially as the Craftgang monthly meet-up is this Sunday!!

Jamey has a great craft studio space in Hoboken and once a month the Craftgang (there are several of us!) meet up to eat, gossip and make stuff.

It's also a great opportunity to play with everyone else's stash, especially Jamey's.

As I have mentioned before Jamey has the most awesome collection of background stamps and I always like to play with those when I am there.

I generally take NBUS with me, because then I get inspired by the gang and they can play with the new stuff that they might not have.

The main card today uses the Lawn Fawn Year Seven stamp and die-set. The background stamp is one of Jamey's and I stamped it and spritzed it to get a bit of movement. The small stitched rounded square die is also one of Jamey's - DO WANT.  I knew I wanted this card to go on one of my fave mini square craft blanks and so waited until I got home to assemble it.

The next card uses a great stamp set by Unity Stamp Co, it comes with several awesome sentiments. I think the bird is a lot of fun too and would probably make a great mixed media piece in my art journal. The background I stole from a stack of Oxide Distress Ink backgrounds that Jamey had previously made, it works perfectly here.

I am a bit obsessed with Reverse Confetti right now.. My friend Jen used the Later Alligator set recently and I had to have it!

I didn't buy the dies, so I fussy cut the Gator and the cake, both are coloured with Ava's Zigs, as I left mine at home! I used dies I found in Jamey's stash and some fun papers also from her stash. I added a few of the clear droplets by Pretty Pink Posh (the Craftgang liked these..) to finish the card off. I like the crazy mix of patterns and colours.

Final card today sparked much laughter, as I decided to use the teeny tiniest letters that I could find in Jamey's stash..it was an exercise in patience applying them!

This was the first time I had used the snail by Avery Elle and it was before the die arrived. The background piece consists of a die and a stamp again from Jamey's stash.

I love the variety of cards I get when we have a playdate and I also love all the food we eat!

Happy Little Stampers - Watercolour with a twist..

Hey,

I am back in NYC now. It was great to go home after a 6 month absence and see my family, my friends and my work colleagues. Hubby also managed to come home for the last leg of the trip, so we spent part of Easter weekend with his family including our Niece and Nephew.

I have been dying to play along with at least one of the Happy Little Stamper challenges, but haven't been able to for a variety of reasons.

So I was excited when I saw the April Watercolour challenge, because I do love a rainbow -

It also seemed like a perfect excuse to break out a couple of fun dies and also enter the HLS April die challenge -

JT gave me a great set of dies by Simon Says Stamp as part of our $20 challenge. The set comprises of a circle die and the circle hexagon overlay. I die-cut the circle first and then using distress inks and an aquabrush I watercoloured the stripes onto the circle. I added the hexagon overlay using my Quickie glue pen..don't know how I would live without this glue pen!

It took me about 30 minutes to decide what colour the card blank should be.. I like the pop of colour on the flat neutral grey. I die-cut the celebrate die by Winnie & Walter in a slightly shiny grey/silver card.

Final touch was to add 2 of the Pretty Pink Posh clear droplets.

I am really happy with my card, it was nice to play with a couple of things that haven't seen the light in a while!

Gnome Love...

Hey,

So today Hubby, Wife and I are probably recovering as we went out raving last night and it didn't end until 6am this morning...

Hubby and I leave for NYC tomorrow, so I thought this card was fitting as it has been an awesome trip home, after 6 months of not seeing our people and families it was nice to be home, albeit for a short while.

I fell in love with this set of stamps by Memory Box, they are not my usual style, but I really liked them and so bought them and eventually the dies.

I decided it would be fun to mask the Gnome and the pot and stamp the flowers around them, I also stamped one of the toadstool with a mask, to give a bit more of a scene feel to the card.

It's so cute, I love it and I thought that mounting it onto a patterned card blank would enhance the colours I used for the flowers.

The sentiment and banner die are by Simon Says Stamp.

See you in NYC on Weds.

Coffee Time..

Hey,

Happy Easter..

Hubby and I have been in MM for the last couple of days and today we are heading to Lemon's to go raving tonight..it finishes at 6am tomorrow...ouch..

Anyway, whilst I was on sick leave I realised that I seem to have a lot of coffee focused stamps..

So I decided to break them all out and have a play.

I made four cards in the end, but I could have made so many more!

The main card uses a sentiment stamp by Whipper Snapper, a Bo Bunny ring stamp and the coffee cup and the hearts on the sleeve of the cup are by Simon Says Stamp and came with the Feb cardkit. It is my fave card of the bunch.

Here are the rest of the cards -

Simon Says Stamp sentiment, Concord & 9th cup stamp, coloured with Distress Inks
Whipper Snapper Coffee Monster, Simon Says Stamp sentiment, coloured with Distress Inks
Background stamp by Penny Black, Cup by Simon Says Stamp, Sentiment by Lawn Fawn, Coloured with Distress Inks
I used eight different stamp sets to create these cards - crazy right, especially as six of them are all about the coffee!!

I love mixing and matching my stamps its so much fun, I really need to set a theme for myself more often..

Hello You....

Hey,

Recently I wanted to make a quick card for my Goddaughter, as she sent us a save the date for her wedding (2019!) and wrote me a letter.

I always think a handwritten letter deserves a similar response.

Obviously I have a large stash of ready made cards, but I wanted this one to be special.

I pulled out the Neat & Tangled 'Hello You' stamp set, I like the large sentiment and the star and the heart stamps fit what I wanted to make.

I stamped the star and heart using Broken China Oxide Distress Ink, then I spritzed it and patted it dry with a paper towel. I like the slightly bleached, smudged effect.

I die-cut the panel using a MFT stitched rounded rectangle die, then stamped the sentiment before affixing it to the card blank.

I am OBSESSED with the Pretty Pink Posh droplets right now, they seem to be making their way onto everything I make LOL.

Super quick and simple card, I love this set, it needs to be used more.

CASE Laura Fadora...

Hey,

It is Good Friday today, I am still in London, heading up to my in-laws in MM today to reunite with Hubby and hang with his family for a couple of days.

I love Laura Fadora, she is totally one of my craft crushes, I love how she uses colour. She is very inspiring.

I loved this card she made -

I have the Give Thanks stamp set by Concord & 9th, that Laura used on her card and it has been a bit neglected, so I decided to have a play.

I made mine into a colourful birthday card. The Happy die is by Wplus9 and this is my first time using adhesive foam for dimension. I really like the effect you get and I am super happy with my card, I love the different shades of colour.

I use Tsukineko inks, I have nearly all of the memento dewdrop colours, they are easy to store as they are small and I love the colours. I do have the odd inkpad by other colours, but these and distress inks are my default. One day when I have more space I would love a set of Lawn Fawn inks..

Here is a variation using Amazeballs stamp set by CAS-ual Fridays.

Slightly different as the stamp is not solid, gives a more subtle effect..

Art Crush....

Hey,

Today is my last day working in the London office and this weekend is Easter, so I will be hanging with Hubby and his family, before we head back to London to party with the Wife.

I LOVE Helen Dardik's work, her Instagram feed makes me so happy and I was overjoyed when I saw that she was collaborating with Waffle Flower to make a range of stamps.

I immediately bought two of the sets on the day of release.

Today's card was coloured as part of the 30 days of colouring and I combined stamps from the two sets I have.

I added a sentiment by Simon Says Stamp, as I thought it was the perfect card for a friend who I miss every single day..

I love the MFT rounded stitched dies, they always make everything look so finished..if you know what I mean.

The spotty background paper is by Lawn Fawn, I love their Polka paper series..I have it all and it is rationed.

Have a great Easter. I'll tell you all about mine when I get back to NYC.

Oh Ship!!

Hey,

I very rarely forget a birthday, anniversary, christening, bat mitzvah, etc but I did recently and was rather annoyed about this!

So I made this fun card for my friend to compensate for being a bad friend and forgetting her birthday after 20 years of friendship.

I love this set by Simon Says Stamp and the ship actually gets used a lot.

I thought stamping on a tag would be fun here and it works so well against the super bright card blank (from Paper Source).

Making this card made me want to be a bit more unorganised so I could use this stamp set more LOL!

Retro Rubber Challenge #60...Baby Critters

Hey,

Time for another fun challenge with the Retro Rubber team.

I knew I had the perfect stamp set for this challenge. I bought a bunch of random stamps from a friend early last year and the Lil Hoot set by Hero Arts was in there, so I have owned it about 14 months and I think my friend had it for a couple of years before that.

I decided to use the Owl stamp, the baby Owl is so cute. I created the background using a Prima Marketing background stamp, I added a piece of scrap paper by Lawn Fawn, the pattern seemed perfect for this card.  Final steps were to mount the fussy cut Owls with foam tape onto a piece of kraft card stock and stamp the sentiment, also from the stamp set.

It's so cute, it feels like a 1st birthday card..

Your turn to show us your baby critter makes, but first pop over to Retro Rubber and get inspired by the things my teammates have made..

Challenge ends April 21st. Don't forget to tell us the age of your stamp, that is part of the fun (and the rules) of our challenge and please only enter 10 challenges including Retro Rubber.

Welcome to NYC...

Hey,

Happy Monday.

So I am in London until 18th Apr..doing a whirlwind family tour and working in the London office.

Because I am here this week, I thought today's card was topical.

One of my colleagues recently moved to the US, so now there are a few of us in the NYC office, which is nice. She manages myself and another girl I work with and we thought that we would make her a personal card from us.

Natasha had this idea that the card should have NYC and London on it and that was her brief... I realised that this would be a great opportunity to break out my old fave Penny Black London and NYC stamps.

I decided to use a much bigger card blank, because the stamps are quite large and I needed to have some space between the two images.

I kept the colouring minimal, because it felt like subtle pops of colour would work much better. I felt quite pleased with the fact that the lady in both has a red coat..like she really did pop from one city to the other!

I dug out my alphabet stamps and stamped the farewell and welcome using these.

I'm pretty pleased with how it came out and the recipient loved it too!

Birdies...

Hey,

I have a lot of bird stamps. I love large birds of prey, I am not so keen on smaller birds!

But my love of big birds does mean I am drawn to bird stamps.

I recently made two cards for friends, using bird stamps that are both really different.

The main card uses a mix of stamps - I love it when I can use my stash this way.

I started with the leaf stamp and to add interest to the leaves, I stamped it twice, once in a pale blue ink and then just the edges in a darker blue, the stamp is by Stampin Up and I love the effect I get when I use two colours. I stamped the sentiment in a coordinating blue, it is one of my faves by Hero Arts. Final touch was the bird, he was a gift from JT and is one of the Tim Holtz crazy birds. I love using the crazy birds, they make a slightly twee card a bit more edgy!

The second card today is a CASE, I loved the card I saw on Pinterest and decided to have a go myself.

I really like the final card, I used watercolours for the colour splodges and the stamps are by Pink Fresh Studio.

I love it when I get to make simple cards that are a bit different to my normal style.

Sketch Saturday: #458 Coffee and Donuts...

Hey,

So it's time for another great Sketch Saturday...

Our sponsor this week is Drawn with Character Digital stamps and they are offering a prize of three digital stamps.

Here is the sketch.
I used the awesome We go together like Coffee and Donuts stamp to create a fun background.
I coloured it with Promarkers and added glossy accents to the donuts to give a more glazed feel.

The strips of yellow paper are scraps from my scrapbox and I used the same scrap to die-cut the rectangle for the sentiment which is by Unity Stamp Co.

This card makes me smile every time I see it.

Your turn now, but first go over to Sketch Saturday and check out what the rest of the DT have done with the sketch.

Challenge ends 14 April 7pm GMT / 2pm EST

Cat treats...

Hey,

Happy Friday!

As this posts I am landing in London, I have today off and will be hanging out with my folks.

I love Lil' Inkers and recently they had a great sale, so I bought a couple of new releases and an older Christmas stamp..

I stamped and coloured all of the stamps as part of last month's 30 days of colouring.

Today's cards were made using the Cat Treats stamps and dies. I love this set, so fun and has a lot of potential.

The main card was super simple. I have a pad of We R Memory Keepers gold and kraft papers and chose a striped one as the background and die-cut it using a stitched MFT rectangle die. I stamped one of the sentiments from the set onto a kraft stripe and added the cats.

The card below was a bit of an experiment -

I used a background that I stamped when I was at a craftgang playdate - I love Jamey's background stamp collection, I always make a beeline for it when we are at her place.

I die-cut the stamped panel twice, once with a stitched rectangle die for the edge and then I used my new MFT peek-a-boo circle die for the aperture.

The experiment part is the 'faux' shaker. I stuck the sequins to the card blank and added a piece of acetate to create the shaker illusion, but the sequin's don't 'shake'.

I added the cute kitty and a sentiment from the set.

I really like it, Hubby thinks it's too busy LOL...meh. What does he know.

Pretty Bleep Awesome...

Hey,

Firstly, I have a potty mouth, so now and again on my blog you will see a card like today's using language that might not be for everyone.

I'm not apologising for that, it is my blog after all, I just want to be clear up front ;)

This card I made for one of the craftgang, we hung out one Saturday recently and it was such a fun day, I thought she should get a card that showed her how much I appreciate her friendship.

I used a pre-printed card blank that I got in a pack from TKMaxx for 99cents!!

I used the awesome Lil Inkers wonky dies to cut the patterned panel and the text panel (sentiment by Unity Stamp Co.) and added a teeny bit of bling.

Really simple way of showing a friend how awesome they are.

Fishy CASE...

Hey,

I am working really hard to play with older items and limit my purchasing of new ones..

I love Yana Smakula's cards, she is so creative and recently on Instagram I saw this beauty -

I instantly wanted to break out the Simon Says Stamp set that she used and CASE this card.

I ended up doing it as part of the 30 Days of Colouring last month.

I love to CASE cards that give me new ways to use my stash and I always like to add something or change something to the CASE.

For this card, I decided that it would be fun to add the ugly fishes from the Avery Elle That Bites set..and I am so glad I did, they made the card hilarious..they are SO ugly.

I used Zigs and an aquabrush to colour the fishes, the teeny tiny fishes are from the SSS set and the bubbles are from the Avery Elle set.

I am so pleased that this stamp set got a new lease of life. Thanks Yana.

Snail birthday CASE..

Hey,

Happy Monday.

Hubby and I will be heading back from Atlantic City today, no doubt with hangovers...

I have many craft crushes, one of them is Marion Vagg..I love her cards and she also seems to be a really nice person too.

I recently saw this tag she had made on Instagram -

I loved how she used the snail and having recently purchased the Avery Elle I'm late stamp and die, it seemed like a perfect time for a CASE.

I used a stencil by The Crafters Workshop for my sunburst with Oxide Distress Inks..I haven't been in love with these so far, but the Craftgang loves them, so I thought I'd try again and this is the first thing I have made using them where I love the results. The bleachy spots are great, so I am semi-onboard now!

I coloured the stamp using zigs and added some white gel pen spots to the shell, just like Marion's card.

I die-cut the panel using an MFT rounded stitched rectangle die, I die-cut it before adding the sentiment because I thought the Ohmygawsh might be too long..

The sentiment made me LOL, it is a combo of a CAS-ual Friday's stamp and a Simon Says Stamp one.

I love it, so bright and cheerful, a great interpretation of Marion's awesome card.

Cx

p.s Marion said on instagram that she loved it..swoon...
