Retro Rubber Challenge #142 Lets get Sketchy...

Hey,

Welcome to another fun Retro Rubber challenge.

We have a sketch for you this time.

You know how much I love a sketch!

I recently made a large background panel for chopping up, I used a Dina Wakely stencil and Picket Fence Studios Golden Rose paper glaze. I used a piece of it for my card, as you can see.

The sentiment is from a cute set by Jillibean Soup 'All My Happy', that I got in early 2019 when I was on a road trip. I love that a lot of the words come with a shadow effect die. I stamped parts of the sentiment onto white paper and trimmed them down to create little blocks to work with the sketch. The 'wishes' I heat embossed onto gold paper.
It felt a bit flat and I decided to get a bit brave and pop some gold thread (I never do this technique) under the sentiments and it worked SO well.

I am so happy with this elegant card, a perfect addition to my stash.

Show us your interpretation of the sketch and pop over to Retro Rubber and get inspired by the things the DT have made.

Challenge ends September 4th.

Don't forget to tell us the age of your stamp, that is part of the fun of our challenge and please only enter 10 challenges including Retro Rubber.

Final Paper Smooches Challenge...

Hey,

So I am playing along with the final Paper Smooches challenge

One of my colleagues recently moved house and I made this card for her using the Paper Smooches Abode set.

I love the chair, it has so many possibilities and it is the reason I bought the set, during the closing sale.

I masked off the chair and stamped the shelf, so it is sitting behind the chair - love masking!

The whole card is super simple, I coloured it with Copics and added some Sakura Gelly Roll Starburst glitter pen touches here and there, most noticeably to the chair cushion.

So sad that it took me until PS were closing to find the challenge, how did I miss that all these years?!

Rescue time..

Hey,

Do you ever make a card and think I don't love this and keep it anyway..just in case?

Well, this was the case with this card. I actually coloured the image and then masked it off and blended over it, I really disliked the background, but because I didn't have the die, it was going to work if I fussy cut her out.

I got the die on sale and promptly cut her out of the hideous background and created a new one for her. Much better!

The stamp is April from the Picket Fence Studios Beautiful Girl series.

I thought she worked really well with one of the sentiments from the MFT Sassy Pants Birthday set. I love these sets and I have a couple of them.

It always feels great when I can rescue a card.

Retro Rubber Challenge #141 Anything Goes...

Hey,

Welcome to another awesome Retro Rubber challenge.

This time it is everyone's fave - Anything Goes.

Anything goes with RR for me, is always a fun reason to revisit something that is a teeny bit neglected!

This time I chose the fun Year Nine stamp by Lawn Fawn (I've had it since it was released in Jan 2019), I love their birthday stamp release, they are always so cute.

And honestly who doesn't love tacos and puns! And even better, tacos with faces!

I love colouring this stamp. I also added the hat and the candle that come with the set and stamped the sentiment onto yellow grid paper for a bit of fun.

Love this card, every time I make it, I wonder why I don't make more of them?

What are you going to pull out of the archives? Pop on over to Retro Rubber and get inspired by the things the DT have made.

Challenge ends August 21st.

Don't forget to tell us the age of your stamp, that is part of the fun of our challenge and please only enter 10 challenges including Retro Rubber.

Paper Smooches: Birthday Fishes...

Hey,

Its official Paper Smooches are no longer, sad times, but happy times for Kim the owner as she goes on to the next phase of her life.

The challenge (which I have foolishly only recently discovered) is still alive and well!

The current challenge is a birthday challenge

I love the 'Birthday Buddies' set by PS. Once again I opted to use the fish to create a background. I can't tell you how many times I have done this with this set!

This time though I colored them using just x2 colours and I added googly eyes!

The sentiment I heat embossed onto a coordinating piece of card stock.

Such a simple, but effective card. I love using this idea to make cards, stamping my own backgrounds, and colouring them is like creating my own colouring book pages!

Embossed Butterflies...

Hi,

I recently found a whole batch of ready to go backgrounds, so I thought it would be fun to make a few quick cards using some of them.

I have never used this freebie butterfly stamp from Die-Cutting Essentials magazine and I thought it would look awesome heat embossed.

Isn't it stunning?! The main photo was the first one I made. The background is a text stamp that I heat embossed in white to create a resist and then it has a watercolour wash over it.

The next two are so bright and fun - the yellow/blue one, uses a background that I stamped at my friend Jamey's craft space and the pink one uses a cut to size piece of patterned paper by Studio Calico (I think).

Using different colours of embossing powder and background papers created such a variety of looks. I love it when this happens.

I added Taylored Expressions simple sentiment strips to all 3 cards.

Woven heart...

Hey,

Happy Monday and welcome to August!

July was a hard month and a sad one too, we said goodbye to our family Dog Oscar on Friday, so hard losing a pet, he was the heart and soul of our home.

I have been loving all the paper weaving cards that I have seen around.

So I had a go myself. It is a LOT of work, but actually easy, just time consuming, the results are stunning, as you can see!

I kept it all super simple once it was finished and just added a simple glittery love die-cut.

Don't you just love simple cards!
