Christmas Card 2017: Lil Inkers ChristMoose..

Hey,

So Hubby and I probably touching down in London as you read this!

I wrote this post earlier in the week, so can't tell you about my birthday celebrations, soon I promise.

I love the stamp I used today, it is by Lil Inkers. I bought it before the Robin version and that is why I bought the Robin.

JT and I have a Moose thing, so even though he is a Reindeer..he's a Moose in my mind!!

These are simple to make, especially with a MISTI. I stamped them all at once and then coloured them using Distress Inks and a paintbrush.

I kept the whole card simple, stitched circle dies and the Recollections colour mats as a backdrop.

I could colour hundreds of these, they are so easy and the end result is so pretty.

Happy 1st Day of School...

Hey,

Happy Friday..

I can't tell you about my birthday bash yesterday, but I can tell you that I was throughly spoilt by my people and it was amazing.

More about that next week.

Today's card is for my Niece Florence who started school a couple of weeks ago.

She is adorable, crazy and I love her to pieces.

This great stamp set by Helen Dardik for Waffle Flower reminded me of Florence, she would have a dancing, skipping moment to celebrate things, just like I would!

I created a little scene using the stamps and coloured it using Zigs. I created the main part of the sentiment on my computer, but the Hooray! comes with the set.

Hubby and I are leaving for London tonight for 2 weeks, so my posts will be LIVE from London from Sunday!!

Happy Birthday to Me!!

Hey,

Yes, I am vain enough to write a post about myself ON my birthday.

I'm 44 today - yay!

I can be a bit funny about 'odd' years and this year has thrown me some stuff to deal with, but I am over that.

Being down about the whole complication this was dragging me down and so I focused.

I sorted out what I wanted from work and I am so happy I did, I spent more time just chilling with Hubby and less time rushing around, I've got a really happy life..but something was a bit off.

Before my op, I was doing a lot of yoga and I was getting good at it and in shape, but I was SO weak after the op, I couldn't do that.

I joined a gym to get fit and strong and boom met the best PT ever, the amazing Wendel.

Wendel has helped me work my arse off, even when I was useless and wanted to give up. He really helped me focus and that flows into all aspects of my life.

So now I am for the first time ever fit and strong, my body can do things I didn't think were possible and it motivates me. A handy by-product is the loss of a lot of weight.

I took the photo today last week. This is the moment that I realised my body has changed - I was all 'woah..that's me' Finally I'm accepting what all this hard work gives me.

I am super grateful that in a rather strange world (right now) that I have so very much because of the people in my life.

So the lesson learnt at 43, be grateful, be happy, be strong, be healthy.

And I am.

Time to celebrate with a ton of margaritas!!

Quick Anniversary..

Hey,

So last day of my 43rd year today!!

I started it with a 6am gym session (ugh).

Yesterday was my SIL's wedding anniversary. I was a bit behind so wanted to make a quick card (and not miss Monday Night Football).

Fortunately I had the Concord & 9th heartstrings die already die-cut and ready to go!

I made the sentiment using my mini labeler (note the missing part of the 'H'), I really need to use him more.

And voila! instant card.

Sadly this won't have arrived in time, but it is the thought that counts right?

Retro Rubber Challenge #72 Transportation..

Hey,

Time for another fun challenge from the Retro Rubber team.

This is one of my fave themes -

I decided my focus would be the travel part and I would have a kind of 'where's wally?' thing going on with my Taxi. Also the best thing about living in NYC is Yellow Cabs, so I had to use one.

The masked circle was a technique that JT and I practiced in Margate, I thought it would work well here. The Statue of Liberty, Apples,Taxi and sentiment are from Kelly's NYC set by Hero Arts from early 2016, so about 18mths old.

I recently bought the bridge die second-hand and I thought it made a great focal point for my Taxi to travel over!

The bling is covering a few spots of ink, love a bling fix!

I love this card, it looks a bit like a snowglobe I think. I was seriously tempted to keep it, but instead I sent it to a good friend.

Show us what your fave mode of transportation is and pop over to Retro Rubber and be inspired by my teammates.

Don't forget to use a stamp older than a year on your project and tell us all about it, that is a big part of the Retro Rubber fun. Also please feel free to combine our challenge with others, but keep it to a maximum of 10 challenges including ours.

Challenge ends on Oct. 6th.

Christmas Card 2017: Hero Arts Elves...

Hey,

Happy Monday to you.

I had a quiet / busy weekend!!

Quiet because I only left the house to go to the gym and run some errands, busy because I spent a fair amount of time at my desk playing catch-up!

I bought the Elves set late last year, after all my Christmas making was done. They were so sweet (and cheap) I couldn't resist..

There isn't a die with the set, so to minimise the fussy cutting, I stamped x2 of the 3 Elves onto the white panel and just fussy cut the central Elf and popped him up. The little holly stamp is also from the set.  I used a freebie sentiment, as Jingle Bells that comes with the set wasn't working for me!

I used Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pens for the scarves, I am loving these pens right now.

Love how easy these were to make and how cute they are.

CAS challenges: Big Dill....

Hey,

Happy Sunday.

Hubby and I have been watching NONSTOP NFL today since about 9.30am EST,hence why this post is so late!!

I had great fun as GDT for CASology and I was looking forward to being able to play along this week. The cue card is perfect this week -

The Big Dill stamp set by Sweet Stamp Shop (retired) has been on my desk since I bought it for JT and I earlier this year, this was the perfect opportunity to get him inky.

This meant I was focusing on the word instead of a 'Big' thing or image and I love a great pun.

I coloured the Pickle's using Promarkers and to make it all pop a bit, but to keep the CAS feel I used my fave Big Dots embossing folder by Sizzix.

Because I love him so much, I am also entering him into the CAS on Sunday Challenge this week - use a die-cut on your card. My 'Dill' and his jar of friends was die-cut using the dies that match the stamp set.

Sketch Saturday #482.. Simple Roses

Hey,

Welcome to the latest sketch for the Sketch Saturday challenge.

Our sponsor this week is Fred She Said and they are offering a $10 gift card for their store as a prize.

Here's the sketch..by me!!

I decided to use the Simple Roses image, I really loved the detail in the flowers.

I was pretty true to my own sketch LOL. But I went with a circle instead of a square, as I decided the Roses looked much better in a circle.

The whole card was so easy and simple, I embossed the pink panel for a bit more detail - the swiss dots embossing folder by Sizzix is my all time fave, I totally overuse it. For the sentiment I combined two different dies. The brown strips are actually from the card blank that I cut to size!! Waste not want not. I added two teeny tiny gems to the horizontal strip, I felt they were needed :)

This card has already left my desk and is winging its way to its new owner.

I can't wait to see what you do with my sketch, but first check out what the rest of the DT have made over at Sketch Saturday.

Challenge ends 29th September 7pm GMT / 2pm EST

Prima Princess Stamps: Alexis

Hey,

So I have been slowly acquiring Prima Princess Stamps .

I stamp them, scan them in and then print them onto watercolour paper, so that I can practice my colouring.

Today's image is Alexis, I coloured her earlier this week as part of the the 30 days of colouring.

I am crap at skin tones..practice is not working in this case.

I am very pleased with her hair and the flowers, I think I got all the shading and tones right.

These panels end up in my sketchbook, which I mainly use for tracing images into so I can watercolour whatever I want. I love colouring books, but they aren't always on the best paper, so I retrace them using my lightbox.

Have a great weekend, Hubby and I will be spending it doing the washing mountain.

Inside My Craft Room..my desk updated..

Hey,

When I was on sick leave earlier in the year, there wasn't much I could do. So I pottered around the craft 'room' and tidied up and took some new photos.

A few things have changed since I first created my 'Inside my Craft Room' page.

I thought I'd give you a little sneaky peek, I will be updating the page before the end of the year.

The main photo today is the view of my whole desk area. All yummy second-hand Expedit.

I won't give you too much detail - there is a lot to see here!! Obviously front and centre is my Dell All-in-One computer 'he' is my precious baby. The photo on my desktop is of Poppa and I last year at an NFL game (Go Hawks!).

Here's the one big change is the pen storage, I outgrew the one I had made, so I am now using Defacto boxes that have dividers, so you get 4 storage areas - awesome.

Recently I admitted to myself that I love markers and I want to try all different ones out. I have decided I can buy small sets - I have 2 sets of Spectrum Noir markers (blues and pinks) this works well and I just choose my fave colours. You can see Promarker Brushpens in the middle quad and regular Promarkers either side (greys and browns).

Sitting on top are a few fun things - my cupcake pincushion (made by my friend Jade), Pineapple tin - it holds paintbrushes and was a gift from JT, the red thing is a crochet uterus! the Aardvark is called Winston and was made for me by my friend Hannah and the succulent is Scott.

I love my desk area, I like certain things to be in arms reach and I've achieved that here.

I'll show you another little peek of the area that has my printer and fun things..

Welcome Sunny Rae...

Hey,

So I have been destashing a bit and selling on the monthly Hero Arts kits, as they haven't really been my style, sad as they are great VFM.

I met a lady on the group I use on FB and she recently had a baby girl - Sunny Rae - such a gorgeous name and the baby is gorgeous too!! As I was sending her a batch of stuff she had bought off of me, I thought I'd make her a card too.

Any excuse for me to make a baby card...

I thought the main focus of the card should be some sort of sunray / sunburst, given the baby's name.

I used an old faithful Crafters Workshop stencil with Fossilized Amber Distress Ink.

I really wanted a cute critter on the card and remembered that I had some of the MFT birthday bears die-cut and ready to go, so I coloured the x2 bears and the balloon using Zigs - yes that is a pink bear..creative license..

I love the giant welcome stamp by Lil' Inker Designs, sadly I don't get to use it as often as I would like.

Finally I added stamped Sunny Rae's name on the card - using Studio G alpha stamps from 2011 that I have hardly used, but I keep hold of them for moments like this!

I am so pleased that my card looks like the vision I had in my head, so rare that the final card looks how it was 'supposed' to.

Yeti in the City...

Hey,

Happy Monday.

I was a bit upset that I was going to miss the Mama Elephant Anniversary party - with Kathy Rac there (sobs at desk)..

I was even more upset when I saw the Anniversary party only exclusive set 'Yeti in the City' - I mean are you kidding me?! How me is this set!!

Fortunately for me Lisette came to the rescue and gifted me her set (Lisette thank you again, you rock).

So here is he in his glory, all inked up and coloured.

I LOVE him.

I Love Ikea..

Hey,

Happy Sunday.

Today I am loafing around mostly watching NFL games with Hubby.

When I was in London recently I went to Ikea with my Ma. They had a sale on their stationery (drool..) and so it seemed rude not to buy a few things...

I bought a couple of blank card and envelope sets. Imagine my delight when I got home to find the notecard is watercolour paper - yay!

I wanted to make a nice card for a friend's Mum who is not very well, but I wanted it to be less 'get well soon' and more 'you got this'. So this saying is actually a bible version out of my accident bible version colouring book purchase!

I traced the verse onto the card using my amazing lightbox and I added some flowers and hearts and watercoloured it. Super pleased with the end result and it also meant I had x2 days colouring for the 30 day challenge. Win win.

The envelopes are super fun, this one has random leopards on it! I added a blank panel for the address.

I love Ikea!

Christmas Card 2017: Neat & Tangled Ornaments..

Hey,

So as part of this week's colouring for the 30 day challenge, I decided to incorporate my Christmas card making, which has been a bit lax with the various trips!

I decided it was time to break out Christmas 2016 NBUS - Neat & Tangled 'Merry & Bright Ornament' set, I played with it at Cheiron's Holiday card extravaganza last year and bought it, but I had finished my cards by then.

I stamped the ornament, and then die-cut it. Sadly you lose the shoulder text when you die-cut it. I chose super bright colours (Promarkers), as I wanted to use more of the Michael's coloured paper squares.

The centres are coloured with a yellow Spectrum Noir sparkle pen. I am loving these right now. I tried the Nuvo glitter pens on a few, but they are so thick they over the black sentiment.

I popped up the ornaments for a bit of dimension and to separate from the bright backgrounds.

They really pop and I love them and I ended up with 7 cards - sweet.

Newton Loves Cake..

Hey,

Happy Friday!

As you know I am GDT this week over at CASology...

I loved the cue card CAKE so much, I made another card :)

I love this cute set by Newton's Nook 'Newton Loves Cake' - funny that so do I!

I kept the card super simple and added a nice anchor point with the needle point frame (by Memory Box). The sentiment is my fave from the set.

I don't think you can see how sparkly the cake is in my photo, but all the icing was coloured using Spectrum Noir Sparkle Pens..I didn't love these at first, but they have grown on me.

Have a great weekend, I am going to be chilling and watching NFL with Hubby..Yay!!

The Flower Challenge.. Tic-Tac-Toe...

Hey,

I was over at Cara's blog this week and I saw her card for The Flower Challenge and I was inspired to join in.

I love a Tic-Tac-Toe challenge.

I decided to use the middle horizontal row - gems, watercolour and CAS.

I thought it was the perfect opportunity to use the Newton's Nook Vertical Vases, that I have had for ages and have only inked up once!

I went with a bit of messy watercolouring for the flowers using Distress Inks.

The sentiment is from the same set.

Super simple card, made with a recipient in mind.

I think as the challenge runs for the whole month, I might need to play again!

Mini Monster Thanks...

Hey,

So I think I have mentioned before my love of Monster stamps and dies...

I am fortunate enough to have amazing friends that randomly send me Monster stamps and dies in the post. Honestly..without asking, I get home and there are these amazing things waiting for me. So lucky.

When I got home this weekend, there was a little package from Cheiron, it had this amazing card in it..

And pineapple socks, a crafty keyring, a Tim Holtz Splatter tool and these awesome Monster dies..
Silly Monsters by Tim Holtz and Sizzix
How awesome is that!

So I had to make her a card using one of the dies to say thanks. I decided to go for bright colours, as Cheiron tends to work with these kinds of colours. I die-cut the sentiment (by Tim Holtz) and affixed it to my Monster, then for a bit of a laugh I added some googly eyes!

I love it, can't wait to play with the rest of the dies.

CASology #266 Cake: Guest Designer..

Hey,

Happy Tuesday to you.

This is my second post of the day and I am super excited to be Guest Designer over at CASology today..

I was so pleased to win my first CASology - I have been playing along with them for a while and have been lucky enough to get several Honorable Mentions. I didn't realise my win came with a GDT opportunity, so I am made up!!

This week's cue card is a fave for me -

Cake!! It's like I was meant to be GDT, as I LOVE Cake.

I had a few options for this card, but I decided to go with a something that is reasonably fussy, but minimally coloured, so ends up being quite CAS.

I created the word by stamping Jenny Bowlin outline stamps - top tip when you don't have a '!' use an upside down 'i'.

I added a freebie cakestand stamp that I have had for about 7 years and just added pops of colour to the cakes, so it kept the fussiness to a minimum.

I'm pretty happy with the end result and so pleased I got to be GDT, what a great way to come back after holiday!

Please go over to CASology and check out the awesome things the DT have made.

The challenge ends on Monday 18th at Noon CDT.

Retro Rubber Challenge #71..Anything Goes..

Hey,

First post for today and I am back with another great challenge from the Retro Rubber team.

This time we have everyone's fave...

I decided to break out a stamp from 2015 by Stamping Bella 'Nice to See You Petunia' I love these Petunia Pig stamps and I have a couple of them. This one is my fave because all the chicks have glasses too!

I used Zigs and a paintbrush to colour the image, I added a Simon Says Stamp sentiment from 2015 and die-cut my panel using a wonky stitched die by MFT.

I covered my card blank in the cute star paper, as I thought my card needed a little lift.

Check out what my awesome teammates have made over at Retro Rubber and show us your fun Anything Goes makes.

Don't forget to use a stamp older than a year on your project and tell us all about it, that is a big part of the Retro Rubber fun. Also please feel free to combine our challenge with others, but keep it to a maximum of 10 challenges including ours.

Challenge ends on Sept 22nd.

Week 1: The Daily Marker 30 Day Colouring Challenge...

Hey,

Happy Sunday!

Hubby and I are happy to be home as we have the start of the NFL season to console us, but we REALLY had a great time in Mexico and were sad to leave yesterday.

I thought I would show you a mini collage of my week 1 colouring for the current The Daily Marker 30 Day colouring challenge.

As I was going to be away for the first week, I wanted to keep it simple and compact for traveling. So I decided to use my new Zoophabet by Penny Black and combine it with Jenny Bowlin outline stamps to create the words that matched the images in the Zoophabet.

See the top left image in my collage for what they look like before I colour them in.

Fun right?! My only complaint is that it turns out it's not really a Zoophabet and I don't understand why..why not use Giraffe for G and Hippo for H?!

Anyway, it's all been fun to colour and as you can see I added some background elements to all of the days to make them a bit more fun.

If you have never played along, you really should, its so much fun to colour everyday and see what the rest of the community are colouring, totally inspiring.

Also just wanted to say, thinking of Floridians right now, be safe wherever you are and remember your life is more important than stuff, stay safe.

Sketch Saturday #480..Flamingo Float!

Hey,

Welcome to the latest sketch for the Sketch Saturday challenge.

Our sponsor this week is Just Me Digital Stamps and they are offering a prize of 2 digi stamps from their store.

Here's the sketch -
I chose Flamingo Floating which handily came with the sentiment that I used in my banner.

I love this stamp, so much fun, I want a giant pink Flamingo float!

I kept the card super simple and printed the stamp out and die-cut it to size using an MFT stitched wonky rectangle die. I coloured the image with Promarkers and Spectrum Noir sparkle markers.

I also printed out the sentiment and cut the banner by hand..really need a die for this right?! I affixed it to my card using a mini staple.

Your turn to show us what you make with the sketch, but first check out what the rest of the DT have
made over at Sketch Saturday.

Challenge ends 15th September at 7pm GMT / 2pm EST

Margate Craftathon 2017: Part Five..the end..

Hey,

Happy Friday.

So this is the FINAL part of the Margate series.

It was actually a lot of fun to write the posts and look at the cards in more detail.

Today's post is slightly different as these cards aren't really a 'family' - just random fun makes.

The main card used a Simon Says Stamp cardkit - I took a few along with me, for JT and I to play with and this one has fun scratch off stickers, so we totes had to play with that. I drew my own balloon string and I'm feeling pretty pleased about that.

Love this next card - in part because it is a total mix of our stashes. The background stamp (which I adore) is by Hero Arts and belongs to JT - she actually bought it second-hand from Jenn Shurkus. And as you can see there is that Thank You die again! The flowers and leaves are from my stash and are by MFT.

Final card today uses a new stamp I bought whilst in London. It is called Party Pigs and is by Woodware, it actually has 6 pigs in a line, but I didn't have a big enough card blank! I love the stitched die that I used (belongs to JT, gift from me..)..why do I not have these?

I love the pigs, they are kind of kooky and I like that. And I like Pigs..so...

It was such a fun thing to do and sharing the cards with you has made me smile a lot, thinking about the laughs and JT, who is totes a friend for life, no way I am letting her go man.

Have a great weekend, sadly my time in Mexico will be up tomorrow (sob).

Freebie Birthday...

Hey,

I actually made today's cards ages ago, but have never got around to posting them.

I got the amazing die free with a UK craft magazine.

I added some distress ink to my craft sheet, spritzed it with water and then smooshed the die-cut piece in it, I love the various shades and tones I ended up with.

Made sense to keep these simple and just adhere them to mini kraft card blanks.

I also made it in orange..

Love it when a simple idea looks so good.

Christmas Card 2017: Newton's Ornaments..

Hey,

I loved this set by Newton's Nook - Ornamental Newton and so when I got the chance to buy it on sale, I totally did.

These cards were so easy to make.

I die-cut the red and blue panels and trimmed the kraft card blanks to size, I wanted mini cards. For some reason I think Christmas cards are better in miniature..

I watercoloured all of the ornaments and before affixing them to the cards, I stamped the sentiments. I mixed and matched, because Holiday only resonates with my Americans. And as I haven't counted the list yet, I didn't want to make all of these US focused.

I affixed the image to the card using coloured staple and then added some gold stickles.

Love this batch of sweet cards.

Obviously More Monsters...

Hey,

Happy Monday from Mexico (kind of)...

I recently bought the new MFT More Monster stamps and dies...you know I LOVE Monster stamps.

I couldn't go away without having a little play, but as my time was limited I kept the cards simple.

A very long time ago I bought a stack of coloured paper squares from Michaels and it is still going strong and the best thing about them is that you don't have to trim them to size, if you use mini square card blanks.

I stamped all the monsters using the MISTI and then added all the details (eyes, mouths etc) that are separate stamps. Very efficient.

All the sentiments except RAWR (by Your Next Stamp) are from the same set as the monsters..

Super simple and quick and makes for a fun set of cards.

Christmas Card 2017: Let's Prance...Again...

Hey,

As I have been traveling a bit recently and I am in the midst of Christmas Card making, it has been smart to recycle some ideas from 2016.

I LOVE this Clearly Besotted 'Let's Prance' set and I was inspired last year by Debby Hughes to make these.

So I used the same formula to create the background, but this year with a MISTI - HALLELUJAH! So much less work.

But I got all crafty. Why have just 5 cards, when you can cut a circle out of your background and get 10 beautiful cards - WIN!!

I feel like this stamp set is going to always be part of my Christmas Card makes.

Margate Craftathon 2017: Part Four...

Hey,

Happy Saturday - I am probably in Mexico as you are reading this.

Nearly there with the Margate series of posts..just a couple more to go..I mean this is what happens when you make 24 cards!

Today's post is all about stencils.

I took a load as did JT and we mixed and matched and played with different techniques.

Main photo was to show JT what her new pot of Glitter paste would look like - sparkly is what! I love Glitter paste, its amazing.  The thank you die is JT's and I had to buy the set when I got home, because I used it SO much over that weekend (she's lucky I didn't pinch it!).

Below I used a different stencil - Dina Wakely - and just a mustard seed oxide ink. Simple, but so wonderful.

The final card didn't photograph as well as I had hoped. I used texture paste through a Tim Holtz leaf stencil and then blended over it once it was dry. The sentiment die is from that set that JT brought with her..

Fun to play with stencils, I am still slightly embarrassed by how long it took me to get the hang of them and now they are used all the time!

CASology: Square Anniversary..

Hey,

Happy Friday.

This is my last working day before the annual Mexico vacay with Hubby! Yay!

I haven't played along with CASology in a while and as I love Squares, this week's cue card was right up my street.

I decided to make an anniversary card for friends that got married the same year as I did, so this is their 8th Anniversary.

I used the square heart stamp from the awesome Simon Says Stamp 'Square Sayings' set for my 'square' (I don't think it is available anymore) -

I added a die-cut number for their anniversary and stamped the sentiment under the hearts to keep that CAS feel.

Super simple, but so lovely. The male half of the couple that this is for, is a designer and I think he will like the clean lines.

My posts will be scheduled for the next week, but if you follow me on Instagram you will no doubt see photos of me sunning myself!
