It's time for another awesome challenge over at Retro Rubber.
This theme is always a fave, Anything Goes, but this time with a Summer theme -
So my teammates tell me that I am always making my own background - LOL. I never really noticed, but I do love using stamps to make backgrounds, it gives them so much more mileage.
As you can see I decided to create an ice-cream background for this card..it made me want ice-cream..(mint choc-chip is my fave..) The ice-creams are coloured with Promarkers and I used a quickie glue pen and super fine glitter to add some shimmer.
The stamps are by Simon Says Stamp and were part of a 2014 cardkit. I don't use them that often and it's a shame, as the sentiments - also used here - are a lot of fun.
I heat embossed the sentiments onto vellum - love doing this, the embossing is always so crisp and I love bright embossing powders. As always there is the 'how do I affix vellum' issue, so again I circumnavigated this by using staples - my default solution for anything that is hard to affix.
Super simple card using a couple of fun techniques.
Show us your Summertime anything goes makes and go over to Retro Rubber and view the great makes by my teammates.
Challenge ends on July 29th. Don't forget to use a stamp a year or older and tell us about it that's part of the fun. Also, please limit your entries to 10 challenges including ours.

Claire, I adore your ice cream cone background paper. And that sentiment is perfect. Why oh why do I not think to use staples with vellum... thanks for the reminder! Fun card!!
ReplyDeleteThis is fantastic. Thanks for reminding me to use my tiny attacher, too. I have so much crap, uh STUFF, I forget to use half of it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great sentiment! I am sure it is true for many people and your background ice cream cones are perfect!
ReplyDeleteReally fun use of vellum there and I like your staple solution. I just struggled with my little vellum project as well. I really like the summer anything goes theme - that's a tempting one :) x
ReplyDeleteThis is fab, love the staples. I want ice cream now! There's a fab ice cream shop where hubby has his hives, their lemon meringue is to die for. Hmm, wonder if Hubby needs to check his bees tonight.... Cara x
ReplyDeleteLove this Claire! I love that you create your own backgrounds with stamps I need to do that more often. The vellum strip with the sentiment is such a nice touch. I am definitely going to try using staples next time I use vellum :)
ReplyDeleteHi Claire: Well, I also never thought of using staples with Vellum, I'm always struggling to find a way to stick it to my cards without the glue dot showing, thank you for the tip, team mate!! all I need now is to buy one of those small, craft staples, the one we have is big and ugly and uses huge, thick staples, not pretty.
ReplyDeleteNow, your delicious looking ice cream cones look awesomely inviting, beautiful detail of the glitter on them, the sentiment is fun and looks crisp and perfect heat embossed.
Awesome Summer card!!!
Hugs,
Maria.
Looooving this card! The cones are so perfect for this challenge! The colors and your placement rocks! ❤️
ReplyDeleteLove the sentiment & your cute ice cream cones!
ReplyDeleteI scream you scream! For more of your fab backgrounds! Love this card with all the summer cheeriness that having ice cream brings! In fact - just went for a cone today! Yum!!
