CAS Mix-up March...Smooshing..

Happy Monday to you.

I've been loving the CAS Mix-up challenge and I was overjoyed when I saw the March one...

I love to smoosh :)

Smooshing to me is when you put ink, crayons or paint or whatever onto a craft mat / surface and spray with water, then you 'smoosh' your paper in the ink, lift it up and then dry it and repeat this technique a few times to get a really beautiful background.

I smoosh  a LOT.

It is also CAS Mix Ups 1st birthday, so I thought a birthday card would be fitting.

I went down a more masculine route with my card..I think it would work for men/boys of all ages.

My choice is die-cutting.

I created my smooshed background by using 3 different distress inks. I die-cut the panel using a Simon Says Stamp stitched die.

I played with the idea of die-cutting out a shape from the main panel and then raising it with foam tape a few weeks ago and I like the way it turns out. So I did it again here, using a Lil Inker wonky die.

The Moose is a punch and I punched him out of chipboard and then stamped him using a Prima Marketing stamp that I always go to when I want an 'illegible' script pattern.

The sentiment is made up of stickers and a random stamp from my stash.

I added some clear droplets and bling to finish my card off.

I am super pleased..roll on April for more CAS Mix-up.

CAS Mix-up: Corrugated Heart...

Happy Monday.

My first day back at work!!

So I said that I would probably play along again with the February CAS Mix-up challenge

This is my second entry and I used the same old DCVW corrugated card in grey.

I die-cut a heart from the corrugated card and from a piece of velum. I matched them up, so the vellum piece is slightly higher and just peeks out.

The background splatter I stamped using a great Concord & 9th stamp (Lace Leaf).

I die-cut the Love You from a Simon Says Stamp die set and before I stapled them in place, I glued the letters together so they were slightly wonky.

I put the heart and the sentiment together before mounting it over the splatter. For a bit more stand-out I added black enamel accents dots.

Again a pretty CAS card and covers off the main two requirements, the your choice elements are die-cutting, splatter and vellum.

I am seriously considering playing again....I am loving working with the corrugated card.

CAS Mix-up February...Corrugated Valentine's...

So I thought I would play along again with CAS Mix-up challenge - February is fun -

I pulled out some old DCVW corrugated card in grey. I instantly decided this would be a Valentine's card...

I die-cut it using a Taylored Expressions heart border die.

I also die-cut the white panel using an MFT wonky die.

I splattered my card with pink ink and affixed the border using pink staples for a bit of a match.

I stamped the sentiment (Clearly Besotted) and added 2 of the hearts that came out of the die.

Pretty CAS and covers off the main two requirements, the your choice elements are die-cutting and splatter.

So much fun I might play again.

CAS Mix-Up...Inky Flowers..

Whilst I was looking at some blogs the other day, I stumbled across a link to CAS Mix-up.

I really like the idea and the January challenge was very appealing -

I chose to use alcohol inks as my liquid colour. I like working with alcohol inks, you can create such random shapes and patterns.

I decided I wanted flowers this time and these were really simple to do and I made a few variations, but this version was my fave.

All you have to do is take a piece of glossy photo paper, drop your ink on and blow on it through a straw to spread the colour. Simple.

I added the stamping with my sentiment (by Scraptastic Club) and in the flower centres (by Concord & 9th).

My choice element was the little black pearls to finish off the flowers.

I die-cut both panels using MFT stitched rectangle dies and I love how the small purple border makes the flowers pop.

I am hoping I followed the rules correctly and that my alcohol inks count as an 'art product' for the mixed media part of the challenge, no matter, I still love it and there's always the Feb challenge to master the rules LOL.
