Retrosketches..You're Pure Magic..

Hey,

I really liked the sketch this time from the Retro Sketches team -

It made me think of a new stamp set that I just bought..it's a bit of a reveal, I bought it for JT and I, but she doesn't know about it...so when she reads this the jig is up!

She bought us both these wonderful dies on my last trip home -

JT said she really liked the 'magic' die and so I had to buy the Avery Elle 'Pure Magic' set for us to compliment the dies..yes that was my 'logical' thought process..

My card was simple to put together. I cut the stitched square in white, added red spotty washi tape and the die-cut magic, which I die-cut out of a scrap of glittery paper. Once the word magic was in place I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set.

It took a while to get my top hat bunny positioned right, but once he was in place I added black pearls and red blingy gems.

I love it! I have JT to thank, I kind of CASEd her thoughts....is that weird yet?

Newton takes a nap...

Hey,

Happy Monday to you..

Hope you had a good weekend. I did, I hung out with Hubby and had a LOT of playtime at my desk.

Today's card uses a new Newton's Nook stamp (Newton's Naptime) that I bought at the Loft Art Retreat. I have now bought the dies, because I thought the image would look great popped up.

I kept the card simple and used soft colours - All Promarkers (Spice, Duck Egg, Buttercup, Pastel Yellow and Pink Mittens).

I settled on stitched rounded rectangle dies by MFT, because the image felt like it needed rounded corners.

I embossed the pink panel for a bit of texture.

Simple and very cute and perfect to enter into the I Heart Promarkers challenge this week - pastel colours.

Use those embellishments...

Hey,

Welcome to May!!

How on earth did that happen and why is it still cold!!

Before I left for London I had a play with a new Neat & Tangled stamp - Punchinella.

I used the technique of inking the stamp, spritzing with water and then stamping, I've said it a hundred times, but as much as I love this technique it always makes me feel nervous..

I love the results of these two and die-cut them using a Memory Box rounded rectangle die.

The colours triggered a memory..so I went through my embellishment box, which sadly I do not visit as often as I should. I found the two embellishments you see on my cards today, I vaguely remembered them and thought they would work on these cards.

I can't resist buying embellishments on sale..is it just me or do we all do this?

The main card went to a work colleague who is leaving for pastures new. I used my new Stampin' Up washi tape punch and stamped one of the great Clearly Besotted mini messages sentiments (the best stamp set EVER).

The card below makes me smile. The embellishment is just SO big LOL.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

For you English that have tomorrow off, I am sticking my tongue out at you.

Metal time...

Hey,

Happy Weekend!

I am playing at my desk ALL weekend..YAY!!

I thought it would be fun to enter the Simon Says Monday challenge this week..I love the theme of 'Show Us Your Metal'

I played around with lots of different things and then went with simplicity.

I wanted to make a card for a friend who is struggling with some stuff right now.. I wanted to remind her that patience aka time is of the essence.

I dipped a distress stain bottle into some brown distress ink and stamped all the fun rings that you can see - top technique! As my heat tool is stranded at a friends house (long story) I had to let it air dry - I think the result would have been very different if I had used the heat tool.

The metal clock charm is by Dovecraft and my Ma bought them for me ages ago.

I added a Tim Holtz small talk sticker to complete the card.

Simple card, simple message, but hopefully it will make my friend feel better..

Enjoy the rest of the weekend.
