Together is the best place to be...

Hey!

I am starting to wonder if I am ever going to be able to show 2021 makes here, as I made SO much in 2020 LOL.

This cute card was for my Goddaughter Amy's first wedding anniversary. She is a big fan of Dogs and I thought she would like this.

Also, her plans for her future had to shuffle a considerable amount in 2020 because of Covid and I wanted the card to be a reminder to them, so early in their married life, that together is all that matters, the what and where is irrelevant.

I used my fave MFT cloud edger stencil to create the background, the dog and bird are Gus and Gertie by Taylored Expressions, the together sentiment is by Unity Stamp Co.

I love creating these cloud background it is addictive!

Happy 21st Birthday Josh..

Hey,

So I have no doubt that I am nursing a hangover today after attending the HAC Summer ball with Lemons...

I am also leaving for home today. It has been a most excellent week in London and its only 3 weeks until my Ma arrives for her first visit of the year.

Today is also my Goddaughter's boyfriends 21st birthday. I actually don't know him that well (due to living in NYC), so I couldn't make the card too personalised.

I love the paper you can see on the card, I stole it from JT, when I was staying at her house last Summer - ha ha ha - only a teeny bit you understand..it has been greatly rationed.

I thought it would make a fun boy type card.

I settled on pale blue as my accompanying colour and die-cut a panel for the sentiment (By Simon Says Stamp) and die-cut a small stitched circle for the sparkly Thickers numbers.

Super simple and perfect for a 21st birthday.

See you in NYC tomorrow.

Statue of Liberty...

Hey,

Happy Friday.

I am most excited that it is the weekend.

It's the annual bonus dinner tonight (Hubby gets a bonus, I get a fancy dinner of my choice) and then tomorrow, we are off to visit friends to celebrate the arrival of their Daughter Eloise.

A very NYC weekend, which will be nice after my long trip away.

I love the Statue of Liberty, it is one of the NYC landmarks that always impresses me.

I recently popped into The Inkpad and they had some new stencils by a New York based artist.

I thought it would be fun to stencil it in white against a black background. The white ink is by Simon Says Stamp and it is the best white ink I've come across.

It came out really well and so I sent it to my Goddaughter to celebrate the fact that she is coming here in November for her 21st birthday.

Have a great weekend.

Something new...

Hey,

Hope you had a good weekend? I had a great one - ready for a week of late night working...

I saw this idea on Pinterest...

I really wanted to try it and as it is my Goddaughter Amy's birthday next week, I thought she could be my Guinea Pig!

I got my treat / gift bags from a local cheapo store for $1.49 for 10. The labels I got for free via Pinterest and I used a great free font I got 'Lavenderia' it's great. The instructions are simple and 5 mins later I had a gift bag.

Final steps to punch holes and add string to tie it up.

Super simple and fun, so many variations can be made. Thanks Club Chica Circle for the tutorial.

Friday fun

Happy Friday everyone!

I have a fun filled Friday ahead of me..first a date with my goddaughter and later on this evening, a gin, curry, gossip sleepover with JT.

The main photo today is my entry for the Retro Sketches #51 challenge -

I really liked this sketch I thought it would be fun to play with. I slightly changed how I worked the backing paper, but still true to the sketch I think.

Ma will like the big blingy gem in the centre of the flower, she always wants bling...

It was such a simple and easy card to make, think I'll be reusing this sketch.

Only one error I feel - the Candi is not evenly spaced...jeez!

Have a great weekend, I may be back on Sunday, but we'll see..I'm feeling a bit lazy right now :)

She's HOW OLD?!

So, my beloved Goddaughter Amy-Jo turned 17 last week, it made me feel really old. But I am very proud of her and happy at how lovely and clever she is.

Today's main photo is of the card I made her. I wanted it to be a bit girly, but still have a bit of a tough urban teenagery type edge. Er? What?!

Anyway, I just bought these lovely sheets of kraft card and wanted to try them out. So I embossed half of it using my fave giant spot folder, out came the remaining piece of cherry paper to be used as a border between the spotty and plain areas of the card. Then I decided that I wanted some sort of flower and thought that the buttons I bought in Amsterdam would work as the centre of the flower. I punched a scalloped circle of heavy red paper and crumpled it up, rubbed it with one of my new Tim Holz Distress Inks in Festive Berries. Finally I added a giant 'Happy Birthday' peel-off in red.

I love this card, it just captures Amy-Jo perfectly.
