Stencil CASE...

Hey,

I thought I would welcome you to June with a CASE.. a stencil CASE..cracking myself up.

I had pinned this card AGES ago and when I got home on Monday I wanted to make something but didn't know what and I saw this and thought CASE time -

The card is by Kay Miller and she made it to showcase a 2015 MFT release.

I didn't use the same MFT stencil, I used a similar one by Clear Scraps and used distress inks and a finger dauber through the stencil. I then splattered the inks around the card and die-cut the stenciled panel out using my fave Simon Says Stamp stitched die.

The monster is by Your Next Stamps and I added new balloon stamps from Mama Elephant & Hampton Arts, I bought these collaboration stamps and dies at the weekend..can't wait to have a proper play..

I was a bit ugh, about the sentiment and then decided to break out ancient Xcut tag dies and coloured them with distress markers and removed some of the colour with a baby wipe. The sentiment is by Lawn Fawn.

It's a pretty straight CASE..it gave me the chance to use a random mix of things together.

Class makes...

Hey,

Hope you had a good weekend.

I had a nice one, chilling with Hubby and attending class at The Inkpad NYC on Friday, taught by my good friend Cheiron.

I love her classes they are fun - there is a regular crowd of ladies and they are great to be around.

I love the cards we made in this class, the main photo was my fave card from the evening. Here are the rest.

So much fun to make, we used pastes, paints, inks, stencils, multi-matt medium, markers, stamps and a few paper based items.

It was great on my table, we were very collaborative and helpful, it was a nice fun way to spend Friday after a crazy week at work.

I also managed to empty my wallet in The Inkpad - but in my defense there were a lot of great things on sale as well as full price items, alongside class discount :)

Cheiron and I will be seeing each other again in two weeks when we do another road trip to Jenn Shurkus' Loft Art Retreat - cannot wait!

Mixed Media Class...

Hey,

Hope your weekend is off to a great start.

Mine has started out wonderfully.

The class taught by Cheiron Brandon last night at The Ink Pad NYC, was AWESOME!!

Big shout out to Anna the owner of The Ink Pad NYC for hosting all these great classes.

Learnt loads of things, my table were a hoot -  another big shout for Vanessa, Lisette and Carol, I got to shop with a discount and made 4 fun cards along the way...

Fun, fun, fun!

These are Cheiron's examples of the cards we made -

The main photo today is of my version of the lady in the dress card - I opted to fully colour her dress and I splattered all over the card..both stamp sets are on order!

Here are the rest of my cards, I loved making them all and all are just a bit different to Cheiron's and that is the fun part about taking a class - interpretation..

This card was fun to make, lots of different techniques and mediums - paint, ink, stencils, stamps,
I love working with texture paste and glitter..loved the inking up the butterfly and learnt how to use multi matte medium!
This stamp is so busy, but when you watercolour it, it looks amazing! Loved dying the ribbon..
If you ever get a chance, take a class at The Inkpad NYC and/or one taught by Cheiron.

Enjoy the weekend..

Simon Says Stamp.. Clean and Simple...

Hey,

Hope you are having a great weekend so far.

Hubby and I had a fun flying visit to Atlantic City on Friday night and are now having a low key Sunday at home :)

I was most excited when I saw the latest Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge - Clean and Simple.

The DT are using Hero Arts products and I just acquired a new Hero Arts stencil that I thought would work well for CAS.

I cut a piece of watercolour card to fit my black card blank and stenciled parts of the stencil using a dauber and Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink..

I'm working on a DT make right now using a freebie stamp set I have. It includes the chinese word stamps and I thought they would look nice on my card.

I added a Stampin' Up Navy marker to my Distress Marker Spritzer, for a little splatter and voila! finished card :)

I'm feeling quite pleased with myself right now, this card feels so CAS and fresh!

I am going to use it as an Anniversary card.

Tim Holtz Tags of 2015...February...

Hey,

So I finally got round to starting AND finishing my February tag last weekend. And yes the photo is HUGE, but he's sooo gorgeous, I wanted to share him in full detail :)

So modge podge gave me some issues, thus it is time to invest in glue n seal!

I used all the technique's Tim used, but I substituted some of the items. My papers came from my scraps, the sentiment I stamped and then distressed.

I assembled the entire tag, following all the steps. I did not want to sew on my heart and looked at the other tags for inspiration - big thanks to Belinda Basson, her use of staples inspired me to do the same.

The die cutting felt was a new thing for me - believe it or not. Silly right!

I added some gold stars around the frame on my tag, I felt I needed sparkle! For the final touch I used a Navy mist to add splatter. I smudged some of it in, as it was a bit OTT..mists, still mystify me..

I broke my one new item rule - there are 3 here..sorry I just couldn't resist the President's Day sales.. So the arrow, heart and frames are new..sorry but I love a sale!

Here's a close-up -

I love how my tag looks, it feels feminine yet grungy - love it!

Tim Holtz - 12 Tags of 2015 - January..

Hey,

So I made my first tag for Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of 2015  before I left for Tel Aviv and I LOVE IT!!

If you saw my WOYWW #293 post, you will remember a strange Monster in the corner, he was hiding this beauty :)

I really wanted to join in last year's 12 tags, but to be frank the techniques, etc scared me a bit :)

Now after a year of learning, practicing and exploring I felt ready..

I didn't have all of the items on Tim's product list, but no matter that made it even more fun - hunting for things to use instead.

I started by making my own tissue paper - I made myself a promise - only one new item per tag - new item for January was the ChitChat Stickers.

I used white tissue paper and Bo Bunny stamps (To the point and It is written) and a free text stamp in silver. Here is a photo of the paper before I used it -

This was a new technique for me, super easy, fun to do and has endless possibilities.

I used my Silhouette to cut 2015 out of chipboard and double sided adhesive. After adding distress paints (Mustard Seed, Broken China, Mowed Lawn) and a blue mist to the tag, I stuck the 2015 on and glittered the numbers.

I decided that I would use the stickers to describe what I want from 2015. Here is a close-up of the tag -

I covered the entire tag in Modge Podge (no glue and seal in my stash) and outlined the stickers using distress markers in the same colours as the paints.

Final touches were the glittery star and the purple ribbon.

I'm really pleased with my first attempt at a Tim Holtz tag.

Come on February..I'm ready for the next one!
