ICAD 2018...A little update..

Hey,

Happy Friday!

If you are following me on Instagram, then you know for the second year I am playing along with ICAD (Index Card A Day).

Thanks to Tammy at Daisy Yellow for organising, you can learn more here and play along too.. it's never too late.

My friend Lauren introducing me and her cards are always so stunning and creative, as is all of her work (she's one of my multiple craft crushes, stalk them enough and they become friends LOL)

I loved it SO much last year and I finally got around to making the cards into an album and sending to my Aunt. She loved it BTW.

I learnt a few lessons last year that I have applied to this year's cards - I have not backed them onto each other, so each of the 61 days will be individual cards. I have tried to keep the bulkiness to a minimum..no mean feat.

I also bought a cute 4x6 album to store them in, more about that in a different post.

Today I wanted to show you a few of the cards I have made so far as we are now on Day 50!

They are all so different and as I am predominantly a cardmaker, I think you can see this is my cards.

Day 5 - Prompt - Queue / Line - Using fun stamps to create a line and adding other elements to tie it all togeher

Day 14 - Prompt - Flamingo - love a Flamingo stamp, I added tons of layers with scraps here, and dedicated it to the Queen of layers Lauren!

Day 21 - Prompt - Treasure - I felt that a sea of scrap papers, with a mermaid, sequins, glittery stars and sparkly dots was the perfect way to show 'Treasure'

Day 23 - Prompt - Castle - I grew up near Elephant & Castle..Get it? I loved layering random elements to create this card, especially happy with the use of fabric on my card!

Day 34 - Prompt - Picnic - I mean for July 4th, it had to be Americana? I aged the photo that I found in a book, added the date too. I also coloured a brown doily blue, using a marker.

Day 36 - Prompt - Pretzel - Literally I love Pretzels more than any other snack, I have a Pretzel charm on my bracelet, that Hubby gave me for my 40th..but only one prezel stamp..hmmm.
The main photo is of Day 46 - I love this one the most I think, partly because I was so thrown by 'tie-dye' as a prompt, then I got a new stencil by Andy Skinner (you get the positive and the negative) and it gave me an idea and I love how it came out.

I love that ICAD gives me a focus for nightly playtime at my desk and I don't have to buy things to play along, I can really dig deep in my stash and that's awesome.

Tomorrow is Hubby's birthday and we are starting tonight with drinks and tomorrow I am taking him to lunch and on a mystery outing..

ICAD17: Week9..the end for now..

Hey,

So ICAD17 is over. It has been so much fun.

I have played with so many different techniques and mediums, all on this tiny little surface. They are like mini journal pages and I can't wait for next year.

Big thanks to Daisy Yellow Art for organising and inspiring us all.

My fave this week was Autumn. The leaf stamp is by Neat and Tangled, it also has a wonderful lacy leaf die and I love the watercolours, they work so well on index cards, such a pleasant surprise.

I think index cards are here to stay in my world and to think I didn't love it when I tried it a while ago.

Prodigal Husband returns tomorrow, I am most excitable to see him, even if it is only for 4 days before I leave for London.

ICAD17: Week 8

Hey,

So here is week 8 of ICAD. This was a hard week for me, with the loss of Archie and the last thing I made before all of that was the Adjective card..

Bizarre summed up my week at that point, little did I know :(

I was torn between the Zombies card and Sepia as my faves..but ended up going with Sepia.

I love this card, it's so not my style, but I really love it and the 'Sepia' tones you see I created with bronze distress paint and a baby wipe!

I'll show you week 9 over the weekend, but if you want a sneaky peek go here and look at all 61 of my cards.

ICAD17 - Week 7

Hey,

It's been a tough couple of weeks, so ICAD is now over and I still have 3 weeks to show you.

Today I am showing you Week 7.

I had a lot of fun making Week 7, especially Day 43 - which I chose as my fave.

I love the Guns 'N' Roses Appetite for Destruction album and Night Train is my fave song off of the album and possibly of all time, its the only song I know all the lyrics to off by heart..

I really enjoyed grunging up the card once I had printed my lyrics onto it. I probably should have had a more 'night' sky, but I liked this version of it.

Check out all 61 of my index cards here.

ICAD17: Week Five...

Hey,

Happy Monday, hope you had a good weekend, mine was fun, starting with class on Friday, I'll show you pics later in the week.

So we are already mid-way through week 6, meaning we are only about 3.5weeks away from the end of ICAD17, so sad.

But let's not dwell on that..

I chose Day 31 Faux Wallpaper as my fave this week -

I got pretty creative here and added gold 'flocking' to a piece of Quatrefoil patterned paper, using a gold marker I'd forgot I had!! I added framed pictures to make it look like a wall. I love that I got to use the frames. I have had them for about 5-6 years, I think they came with me to the US!!

This is one of the awesome things about ICAD, I am using so many random parts of my stash, it is fun digging around in search of vaguely remembered items.

The photos are in day order, clockwise from the left and here is a link to the gallery with all the cards so far (including some week 6 ones!)

ICAD17: Week Three..

Hey,

Happy Monday.

I am actually on my way to Rochester, NY for a 4 day workshop with my clients.

I get to see my colleagues from London and finally meet a client I really like face to face. So despite being away for 4 days for work, it's gonna be good times all round.

ICAD is currently in week 4 and because I am away this week and I didn't want to miss anything I spent a crazy 2 evenings making all my cards - fun, but mental.

I loved week 3, it seems like all of my cards involved some sort of stamping, I guess that shows where my head was at.

I really liked Alphabetise, but I decided to go with Day 19 - Gear or Gadget as my fave this week.

This is my fave mainly because I can't believe I got the resist to work on the index card, seriously index cards are the bomb!! They take paint, ink, water, heat embossing and pretty much anything else you can think of and they don't fall apart or smudge. Amazing.

Anyway, I stamped the cogs / gears using white picket fence Distress Paint and dried it, this creates a resist for you to blend over. My blending doesn't look so hot here, but in my defense this is actually the one flaw of an index card, it's so thin that it moves a bit when you are blending!

I added the strip of Robots and Gears, it's actually a punch that I have had for ages.

This whole ICAD thing is a lot of fun. I have had a hoot coming up with ideas and rooting through the depths of my stash for things that have been neglected.

Oh and I created a gallery, for you to nose at incase you want to see them all at a bigger size.
