Sleepy thoughts..

Hey,

Well its freezing here in NYC..I am staying put today...I ventured out yesterday for Dumplings with friends - yums!

I took advantage of the bonus day off on Friday to make a few challenge entries. Today's card is one of them and it's for I Love Promarkers, which I haven't entered in a while.

This weeks challenge #200 is 'Frame it'

I really wanted to use the lovely Bugaboo stamp that I had already coloured, but it was a bit big for my frame dies and I didn't feel like breaking out the Silhouette right then. So I made my own DIY random frame thingy...I like it, its a bit weird, but fits the image perfectly.

I love Bugaboo stamps and I got this one in their annual winter sale. Bargain! I used a Hero Arts sentiment stamp and I added a Candi to my frame, I was considering bling, but the Candi looked better. Finally I added a few touches of glitterglue for shimmer.

I used the following Promarkers -
Morning Mist - the moon
April Shower - hat, sleepsuit and socks
Winter Berry - hat and the socks
Buttercup - hair
Oatmeal - skin

Hope you all have a nice Sunday.

Superstar!!

Hello!

Well it would seem I am sticking with stars for the time being..

I do love stars and my Thanksgiving and pre-Christmas shopping frenzies seem to have boosted my collection :) I am working on a DT make right now and I do believe I've seen some stars in it!

I loved Color Throwdown last year, it was one my fave new discoveries. They are starting the year right and have chosen some of my favourite colours for us to play with this week (CDT #273)

I made this card back to front, I chose the papers and because my version of smoky slate was a scrap, I had to search my stamps for a sentiment to fit the space I had..hence the Superstar stamp.

My ingredients were -
Turquoise and White paisley paper by American Crafts
Basic Grey and Smoky slate papers by Staples
Turquoise ink and Superstar sentiment stamp by Studio G
Blue Topaz glitterglue by Martha Stewart
bling from my stash

To add a bit of oomph to my card I added glitterglue to some of the letters and a few bits of bling here and there...

I am very pleased with the outcome, simple and elegant.

Stars and back...

Hey,

Well it snowed a LOT last night here in NYC. So it's SNOWDAY..meaning I get lots of bonus time at my craft desk..here's a photo of StuyTown for you.

StuyTown in the snow
I had a lot of fun in the latter half of 2013 entering challenges every week. It helps me focus and means I get to make things that I might not otherwise attempt.

I am continuing with the challenge fun with this entry to Mojo Monday #326.

I went with the square version, I find round cards a bit problematic...

My ingredients were -
Chevron and star papers by Studio Calico
Black and green papers by Co-re dinations
Sentiment stamp by Lawn Fawn
Mini star and heart punches by EK Success

I love stars and I was very pleased to find the Lucky Stars set by Lawn Fawn just before Christmas..I have managed to use it quite a bit and even managed to make some OWH cards with it before the deadline.

I think my card has a very masculine feel..I might have to keep it for Hubby...

Moving Along With The Times....Thank You

So happy New Year again...I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and a Happy New Year...

It is my turn to host Team B over at Moving Along with the Times

I am a tad nervous, but sure that you will all encourage me through my first time hosting a DT (eek)

I have chosen a Thank You theme, as I wanted to incorporate saying Thank You for all my lovely Christmas gifts into my hosting of the challenge. I also love making Thank You cards.

I really wanted to enlist the help of my Silhouette Portrait for this challenge and I based it on an old challenge sketch that I really liked.

It has all worked out pretty well and I am pleased with my ingredients -

Backing paper - by Studio Calico
Turquoise bling - from The Works in the UK
Thank You sentiment - by Silhouette America

You can see my take on the challenge as the main photo here today, but do go and check out Team B's  inspiring creations and join us for the first challenge of 2014.

WOYWW 239 - Its 2014!!

Happy New Year everyone - especially you WOYWWers!

Hope you all had fun seeing in the new year. Hubby and I had a lot of fun at our own private house party :)

So happy that the first post of the year is for WOYWW. My desk is pretty tidy and quiet today (as I am slightly hungover..hence the late join).

You can see a little stack of things that are for my DT post tomorrow, covered by a mini card (I have been making lots of mini cards..posting them later in the week), my glasses, mouse, pencil, the makings of a robot card and the black thing is my new bluetooth speaker - a Christmas gift from Hubby so I can stream music from our server at my desk - YAY!

I have had a wonderful time off, back to work tomorrow - boo, hiss. It's been great to have time to just play and not make things for Christmas, etc. I have mainly been playing with stencils and making mini cards, based on a Pinterest idea. I thought I'd show you one in advance of my full post about them.

3 stencils!! Bird, birdcage and sunburst
I hope that 2014 will be a good one for you all.
