WOYWW #231...Skipping to the post office

..Well that's a bit of a lie...but I will be going to the post office on Saturday with all the lovely 40 for 40 cards I've made - yay!

So let's have a look at my desk shall we..if you are wondering why we need to look at my desk then pop over to Stamping Ground - the lovely Julia's blog where we all hang out on a Wednesday nosying at desks from all around the world!

This week my desk is VERY tidy, in part that is because my in-laws have been in town, so there hasn't been much craft activity and also because our apartment is a total tip right now :) and so I tidied my desk..made me feel like I've done something!

You can see x2 Valentines cards for OWH, my glasses, my shiny new purple mouse (he is super), a stamp on a block, a heart punch, my phone, a bone creaser (love him) and two piles of random..

Here's a close-up of the one of the Valentines cards...

OWH Valentines / Love card
Cute right?

Happy WOYWW everyone, I'll be nosying at your desks after work today.

OWH Christmas Makes....

Hey,

As I have been a bit busy with the in-laws this weekend, I haven't made that many things, so thought I would show you some of my fave Christmas cards that I made for OWH.

I used a Bugaboo 12 days of Christmas stamp set, that I purchased using some Bugaboo winnings :)

I really love this set and had originally bought it to use for my own personal Christmas cards, but fast realised that it would be quite a lot of work to colour 40+

Using them for OWH meant that they went to a good home and as you can't have more than 20 'similar' cards in one batch meant that I could just make a set of 12 and be happy.

As you can see from my main photo they are really cute - 3 French Hens is my fave of all the stamps.

I used a 'recipe' for all the cards - a simple background paper (spots, stars, stripes or snowflakes), strip of paper to hold the punched sentiment and a foam star. I also tried to make the colours of each element compliment each other - so tonally they are all similar.

I love the way they turned out and hope the troops do too..

Here are a few more of them..
2 Turtle Doves
6 Geese a Laying
12 Drummers Drumming
5 Golden Rings
11 Pipers Piping
Remember OWH always needs card makers like us to donate cards to them - check out their website and give it a go, you don't have to make 100's of cards like me, 10 or 20 cards will be most welcome.

Have a great Tuesday, we are off to Tommy Lasagna with the in-laws...yums!

Day off = solo playdate...

So I had the day off on Friday and spent a couple of hours having a solo playdate!

I got through a lot of my November needs (personal birthdays, etc), more 40 for 40 and then decided that it was challenge time.

I stumbled across CAS(E) This Sketch #52 when I was looking at someone else's blog..I love this week's sketch -

I decided it would be fun to combine it with Colour Throwdown #266.

I think my card has turned out pretty sweet - the colours and the sketch go really well together.

How does it all fit?

Old Olive = my backing paper by American Crafts
Close to Cocoa = scallop punch heart (punch by Woodware, paper by American Crafts)
Blushing Bride = button from my stash
Cherry Cobbler = paper twine and glittery strip both from my stash

The sentiment is a bit of a hybrid of Blushing Bride and Cherry Cobbler.

I am pleased that I have just the right person to send this little beauty to!

Today I am off to see an NFL game this afternoon with my neighbour Dr Kevin and the in-laws, unfortunately Hubby has to work :(

Doggie fun...

Hey there!

Hope you have lots of nice plans for the weekend, Hubby and I are hanging with his folks who are currently in town visiting us.

I really liked this week's Freshly Made Sketches #110

I thought the sketch would work really well with my Bugaboo Doggie Blocks that I bought using my Bugaboo winnings a few months ago.

I remembered that I had this great dog focused paper and that is what I have used for the background, I coloured the Doggies using Promarkers and as luck would have it I found a green one that matches the background perfectly (Apple Cider). I love the sentiment it's by Hero Arts and it is a current fave. The button and twine are from my stash.

I am very happy with my entry this week - it's a cute and fun card..going on the 40 for 40 pile.

Sexy sparkly Christmas...

Happy Friday to you! Hubby and I had a wonderful Anniversary dinner last night, the restaurant was the perfect oasis in amongst all the Halloween madness here in NYC!!

I really wanted to enter the Kenny K challenge #158 Holiday Sparkle as I haven't entered for a while and I also wanted to use my Mrs Claus stamp.

I stumbled across a sheet of glitter velum in my stash and thought that would be perfect for this challenge. Unfortunately it didn't really work against the white card, so I had to put a red layer behind it and now you can see my ATG tape - FAIL...but now I think it looks more like 2 red stripes and I love that my fail has become a feature, so I am still entering it.

The red border is an offcut from the red background layer and the sentiment was made using my fave EK Success punch. I also used Stickles to glitter up the white parts of Santa's outfit. The star is all glittery and part of a set that I 'rediscovered' Of course she was coloured using my Promarkers (I wish they sold them here in the US)...

Here is a close-up so you can see the glitter velum and the stickles on her outfit - unfortunately, it was all hard to photograph....or I am just not good enough?!

Close-up
I love her, she now needs a good home!

Have a great weekend, Hubby and I will be hanging with his folks who are in town for a week.
