Finally after months of planning and much hard work, I am happy to announce that hamnmuledesigns.co.uk is now live!
I hope everyone loves it as much as I do.
I have to say a massive thank you to JT for helping me make all the Christmas cards - it wouldn't have been possible to do all of this, this year without her!
Today's pics are just a few of the cards on sale on the website.

Big Day for HamnMule
Hi!
Well it's been very busy since my last post. Birthdays (mine!), parties, hen-do's, working and weddings have come and gone! I have also been busy building the new website for HamnMule to sell our Christmas Cards.
It's been a big task getting the website up to scratch, but I think I am there, we are in the final test phase and we should go live at the end of this week - very exciting!
Today's pic is of the Thank You cards I made for my birthday, which I am entering into my first blog challenge in months! Yay!
DYSU - #41 Use Your Scraps.
These were made using A6 black card blanks (a real bargain from Craft Superstore), Kars silver Christmas cardstock scraps from the Christmas Card making, Martha Stewart bubbles border punch, recycled bling (I found a small bag of non-adhesive bling in a charity shop) and peel-offs from my local craft shop. I like to make little Thank You sets, as I think it's nice to send out Thank You cards made for a specific occasion.
Anyway, I'll be back later in the week to launch HamnMule.

242
That is the number of Christmas Cards my friend JT and I made yesterday!!
It was hard work, fun and they are gorgeous - only a few more designs to be made now. I have started on one of them and JT will be working on the other one.
Unfortunately I can't show any of them to you, because the website goes live in October and I want to wait until then to showcase all the beautiful cards. Today's pic is of the Christmas Advent calendars from last year.
I'm exhausted so I am off to chill, but as a final note I want to say a massive thank you to JT for all her help.

I'm alive!
Hello!
Well it's been a while since I posted an entry and that's mainly because my new job has been so busy! I have been crafting and taking pics of my stuff, but just haven't found the time or the energy to blog.
So here I am very excited about the new developments in the Ham'n'Mule world - as you know I decided not to do craft fairs this year, but I still really wanted to make and sell Christmas Cards. So I have built a lovely website and it goes live at the start of October.
My new found craft buddy JT is coming over this weekend to make a dent in the Christmas Card production line and we hope to have most of them done in a couple of weeks. In amongst all of this, it's my birthday and I am already planning my birthday Thank Yous - teeny bit presumptous, but I figure hubby and my folks will buy me gifts :)
What else has been going on? Well Hubby and I went to Seattle to visit friends and I went craft stash crazy in Michaels - oh I wish we had a store like it in the UK. I have been trying out new techniques and new tools - I finally bought a crop-a-dile! I sold my Slice and bought an Epic Six, which I hated and now I love it. I have been using Marianne Createables which are awesome. I've fallen completely head over heels in love with Digital Stamps and they might just be my new obsession....although my obsession with Martha Stewart products continues....last week I bought the most amazing butterfly punch, I'll take pics of my creations.
Anyway, I will be back after the weekend's crafting. Today's pics are a small example of what I have been up to during my blog hiatus - the butterfly stamp is from Michaels and so is the pink swirly paper (yes my luggage was very heavy....)

I Got Published!!!
Whoo Hoo!!
Yes, you read it right!
I came runner up in a subscriber's competition in Cardmaking and Papercraft!! They asked subscriber's to send in a 'Thank You' card and I was one of the 2 runners-up.
My card is at the bottom, with the blue flowery background and the bird (from Bugaboo Stamps). Here is a better pic of the actual card -
I am really really pleased, it means I am published and I am getting a heap of cardmaking goodies.
I found out on Saturday, what a fantastic start to the weekend, which I spent in the craft room making lots of lovely cards.
Yay!

It should be a Cathedral!
Yes the picture above seems to be of a Church! Which it quite rightly is, but due to the fact that Melton Mowbray is not big enough to be the home / seat of a Bishop - St. Mary's is just a Church.
I'm not a religious person, but I love Churches.
Anyway, as it's been a week since my last post, I told myself that I would write an entry when I got home. Also I really wanted to show some of the pics I took with the new Pentax whilst in Melton Mowbray.
Hubby |
Bust in my in-laws garden |
I am really please with them and really enjoyed using the Pentax. I love the photo of Hubby, we've been joking that it will be his album cover when he releases a DJ Mule mix!!
Enjoy the rest of the week, hope to be back at the weekend.

Nice end to a nice week
Hello!
Well I have missed writing my blog this week and making stuff to show you, but it has been a really good and busy first week in my new job - which I am loving!
To recap - I had lots of fun in MM and spent a large percentage of the time shopping! I came home with lots of lovely new things for my craft stash (and I mean LOTS).
I decided I could enter one challenge this weekend and chose Sketch n Stash #57 - partly because I thought the sketch (below) could work well with some of the new things I bought.
So today's pic is my entry for the challenge and I am pleased because I normally avoid stamps like the one I've used, as I think they are a bit twee!
But I think that using some nice contemporary papers makes it less so. I decided to only colour the bow and the spots on the present and I think that also helps to make it look less old fashioned! The stamps were a free gift with Simply Cards and Papercraft magazine and they are by Molly Bloom's rubber stamps. The papers are from the Sugar and Spice range by Dovecraft, for the sentiment and flowers, I punched them and coloured them using Promarkers. The pearls are by Dovecraft and the oval shape was from a batch of shapes I bought for 99p whilst in MM.
It's the first time that I have thought about punching shapes in white and then colouring them using promarkers - it works really well.
Have a good week - once again no crafting or blogging for me whilst I settle into my job, so I'll see you next weekend.

Age is only a number!
So I made today's pic for my friend who is 40 in a couple of months. She is a glittery, girly girl, so I made this card totally with her in mind!
It got me thinking about being 40 and the fact that it doesn't bother me as much as i thought it would! Which to be honest was a bit of a surprise, I have been half expecting myself to start freaking out about it some point soon! It would appear though that being happy has made me focus on what fun life seems to be right now!
Anyway today's card is being entered into the Mojo Monday #182 challenge (sketch below). I am really really pleased with this card and think that my friend will really like it! It's so bright and cheery, it just makes me happy to look at it.
I used Co-redinations pale pink textured card stock (for the base card and the smaller circle), Cuttlebug Spotty embossing folder, Pink Petticoat Big Dots paper, My Minds Eye Wild Asparagus paper, Papermania Summer Bloom paper self-adhesive pink spotty ribbon, gems from my local Poundland and the numbers are Anita's Glitterations.
That's it for this week! I am off to enjoy my last weekend before I start my new job. Have a good one.

Early Start
Well today was my first early start in awhile - bit of a shock to the system!
I am on the train on my way to Melton Mowbray, I love this journey it's so quick and so easy. I am going to stay with my In-Laws for 4 days (Hubby arrives Friday night), I'm gonna hang with some friends, see Granny Grantham, do stuffs with my In-Laws and use the new camera A LOT!!
I've got Hubby's netbook with me - not just to blog, but so I can upload all the lovely photos I am planning on taking!
Yesterday I hung out with my friend that just got out of hospital - knowing her, I thought it would be nice to take her some Thank You cards, as it was recently her birthday and I knew she'd be itching to send Thank You's! I was right - yay! She was very happy with the cards and they were especially designed for her - I'll take a pic and show you next week - as next week is going to be a no crafting week, due to me starting the new job, I want to focus! So my posts next week will be mainly about things I have already made.
Today's pic is a card I made for my friends wedding anniversary, I based it on this week's challenge from Get Sketchy #78 (sketch below). I really wanted to make them a special card and as I have been working with lots of pinks, purples and blues, I decided that I would explore green for this card.
I love this card, it really made me smile when it was finished and I got to use lots of fun stuff (more time when you are not working).
I used Pale Green Co-redinations textured cardstock (for the pale green and dark green), Cuttlebug Spotty embossing folder, Pink Petticoat Pretty Little Hearts digital papers, Smirk buttons, Papermania stamp, Versamark chalk ink in Oasis Green and a Woodware heart punch.
I thought I should mention that the heart punch has special meaning for me, as I bought it 7 years ago to make my parent's wedding invites, which was my first foray into card making.
See you tomorrow, hopefully with some pics of my adventures in MM!!

Scary Tuesday
Not today obviously, but yesterday my friend JJ is coming over today to watch Amityville - as we wimped out at film club a few weeks ago and missed the end, so we decided we'd be brave and try again - but in the day!!
Today's pic is a card I made for a friend, which I think works really well for the DYSU challenge this week - It's #10 and the theme is layers.
I don't think my card is that traditional in the use of layers, but I like how it came out and I like the blingyness (totally not a word) of it! I used Heidi Grace Papers, another of the free sentiments I got on the Complete Cardmaking Magazine disc, my current fave Martha Stewart loopy punch, a chipboard button, some pink ribbon that came with my card blanks (recycle, recycle) and gems by Papermania.
Today, I am off to visit a friend, I haven't seen in awhile and she's not been very well and then it's home to pack for MM and to make sure I am ready for Monday!!
See you Thursday.

Mices!
The reason mice are my topic for today is because my parents have mice and are not pleased about it, however their attempts at pest control make entertaining reading!
They no longer have a cat - which has prompted the cheeky mice to set up home in their kitchen. Their dog (Oscar the Jack Russell) is rather unconcerned by the arrival of the mices and in part this is because he can't see too well!
So my parents have tried traps and poison to no avail and finally settled on glue traps - they caught their first mouse today, but were quite distressed at it not being dead and so released it!!
Now I can understand that it's not nice to have to kill any creature (no matter how repellent) but surely this is the point of the whole exercise for my parents?! Anyway it made me chuckle.
Onto the craft stuff! I've written a list of the challenges I want to enter this week, mainly because I will be at my in-laws from Thursday, thru to Sunday (before I start my new job on Monday) and so need to get organised so I can take all the pics before I leave and then I can combine my photography adventures with my Father-In-Law with my challenge entries!
This means today, I have been crafting up a storm and have managed to make today's pic - for 3 challenges:
Corrosive Challenges #107 (sketch below)
Kaboodle Doodles #58 Happy Birthday
Polka Doodles Week 10 Challenge - Black, White + 1 other
I gave this card quite a lot of thought, as it was going to be the entry for 3 challenges. I decided it would be nice to use some red for a change, as I often work with blues, greens, pinks and purples.
I am pleased with the outcome and I think I am going to give it to a friend for her birthday. I used Martha Stewart loop border punch, free sentiment circle (from a disc on Complete Cardmaking Magazine), cute chipboard button that was part of a Christmas gift I received, red wool and papers and gems from my local Poundland.
Finally even though this card wasn't part of a challenge involving her, I should mention that my inspiration was Mary Fish, she makes such beautiful contemporary cards, I love her work, I think she is very talented.
Til tomorrow.

Chilling!
So I am very relaxed and a touch hungover - following a lovely day at a spa yesterday, then Hubby came and joined me and we stayed the night at the hotel - which was totally tricked out! We drank a touch too much, hence the hangover.
I have enjoyed my first week of lady of leisuredom and will be sad to see it come to an end, but I am excited about starting my new job and looking forward to getting stuck into work.
Whilst I have been busy tooling around town - I have still managed to enter all of the challenges I wanted to this week - which is great!
Today's pic is for the Mojo Monday #181 challenge - sketch below.
I loved some of the DT ideas for this sketch and seized upon the opportunity to use my new Pink Petticoat Big Dots digital papers (yes again!!) and make a groovy wedding cards for our friends Lora and Dan. I am really pleased with how the card came out, it's another off the wall attempt - which I quite like! It was a good use of some of my new embellishments from my Christmas stash - the joy one in particular will have special meaning for Lora!

Lady of Leisure
So because I have been 'busy' being a lady of leisure, I haven't devoted as much time as I would have liked to crafting! I have been making things, but on the downside, I have been leaving it til late to take the photos - hence today's pic, which is a touch dark and doesn't do my beautiful card justice!
I made today's challenge entry using Pink Petticoat Big Dots Lavender papers (for both the backing plain and the spotty paper), the digital stamp also came from Pink Petticoat (With Flowers set) and you saw it earlier in the week, I used Promarkers, Stickles glue, peel-off sentiment (which I coloured purple with permanent markers), ribbon from my local Poundland and push pins (not brads!) from my stationery stash!
I really like this card, it's simple and clean - I might actually take another pic and post it again over the weekend, so you can see it in it's full glory!
I made the card for Sketch and Stash #56 - sketch below.

It's Been Emotional..
My last week at RL was eventful, lunch filled, booze fueled and very emotional. I am sad to leave my posse, but I will see them again and I now have a shiny new job to look forward to.
So I have been trying out the new camera - today's pic was taken by me, using my new beloved Pentax - it's of Archie - our most elusive kitty kat - he was having a stretch on the bed and I caught him in action - cool right?
As I have a 2 week sanity break before starting the new job, I have been keeping my craft hands busy. I have a whole list of challenges I want to enter this week, but let's start with 2 for today!
DYSU - #9 - Just Green it
Polka Doodles - week 9 challenge - Flower power
Here's my card (pic also taken using the new camera) - I love it.
I have been playing around with ideas for Mother's Day cards (3rd April in the UK) and this one won! I used Pink Petticoat's Little Big dots papers and one of the digi stamps from their With Flowers set - I love Pink Petticoat! I also used Promarkers (Gold, Sage, Pumpkin), diamond Stickles and ribbon and gems from Poundland!!
Until tomorrow.

Let's Eat Cake.
It's Friday, this means I have only 1 week left in my current job and I am starting to get a bit sad about leaving my friends.
It also means that on my 'pod' we will be eating excessive amounts of bad stuff!
The big news in my world is that I bought a new camera, I am sad to be parting with "The Beast" but it is time to move up to a full dslr. The new Beast arrives today, which is very exciting - I don't have any lenses for him yet, so I guess I'll be spending the weekend trawling the internet for good deals!
Today's pic is something I put together for 2 challenges.
Polka Doodles - week 7 Chocolate
Cupcake Crafts - Cupcake 130....Cake 'n' Ice Cream
Making this card gave me the excuse to buy some new cake digital stamps from Pink Petticoat and I have had fun colouring and glittering them. I have no idea where the backing paper came from! The ribbon was on a gift I was given and I used peel offs for the sentiment.
I am pleased with the card and I am looking forward to making more cards using my lovely new cake stamps.
This weekend is going to be a quiet one. Hubby and I are off out tonight for a fancy meal to celebrate all the recent good news and on Sunday his cousin and his girlfriend are coming to stay before heading home to Bulgaria.
Have a good weekend, I'll be back tomorrow - I have another card all lined up for the Mojo Monday challenge.

Getting my sew on
Well, that's not strictly true! I didn't get my sew on last night, I am just finally getting round to showing you the diary cover that I made for my friend and wedding planner Marie.
I am quite pleased with it, only issue being I took the inside pics in a hurry, so they are a) a bit bleached out and b) I hadn't trimmed off all of the extra threads either!
The fabric is from Ikea and I've had it for a while, I bought it to make tote bags with, but I just couldn't bring myself to part with it! The ribbon and buttons are from my stash.
The tutorial I used was very straightforward and I even modified the pockets and the fastening to make it a bit more useful for Marie.
Try it out, it's fun and takes about an hour from start to finish.

Spots and Stripes
So I made this card as a challenge entry - it's a tad off the wall, but I like it!!
Spotty papers from my local craft store, My Minds Eye spotty ribbon, self-adhesive gem and the stripey monster topper was made using a digital stamp from Lettering Delights and Striped paper from Funky Hand's Salt&Pepper set.
I'm loving digital stamps and papers right now!
Challenges this has been entered into are -
DYSU - #7 Spots
Crafty Emma's Challenge Blog - #24 Spots and Stripes
See you tomorrow

Bring it on!
Thank You |
I realised that I haven't really posted any pics of things I've made recently, so I've put some pics up for you today.
Thank You - Reprodepot floral paper, re-coloured peel-off and a blue glittery bird embellishment by Simply Creative.
hello! birdie - no.1 |
No1 - Great paisley paper from TK Maxx cut out using the scalloped square template on my Slice, cream card cut using the same template and birdie/hello! stamps by Hero Arts.
hello! birdie - No2 |
hello! birdie - No3 |
I love this Hero Arts stamp set, it's really cool and very handy, it comes with other sentiments and I have used it for so many different occasions. The card I love the most has to be No3, because I really like the layered effect and the glittery black paper.
Enjoy!

Sundays Are Best
We had such a lovely time with Family Hopgood and Leila is absolutely gorgeous, but there is nothing better than being in your own home on a Sunday watching the NBA All Star weekend.
Today's pic is for the Mojo Monday #178 challenge, I love the Mojo sketches and often use them for inspiration. I love this card and have just the couple in mind to give it to. Here is the Mojo sketch -
I used Canford Card, free papers for the scalloped circle (which I cut using my slice), I decided against ribbon and used card instead, I also decided not to create a bow and used self adhesive gems instead, the stamp is from the Forever Friends Wedding set and the ink is Peony by Colourbox.
This week, I have been using lots of the same items from my stash, it's quite interesting to see how many different cards you can create using similar ingredients!
The only thing that has irritated me this week, is not having time to enter the Kaboodle Doodles and Sketch n Stash challenges - next week, next week.

Eventful Week!
So, with the birth of baby Otis and my new job!! Yes, I have a new job!! It has been an eventful and really nice week.
Hubby and I went and saw Otis, he is gorgeous, we are totally smitten. The whole family seem to be well, even though they are tired, they seem to be taking to parenthood very well. Obviously, we took him some Ham 'n' Mule originals, so he is a stylish baby too!! I also hung out with the girls last night, haven't seen them in a while, so that was fun. To round off our nice week, Hubby and I are off to visit friends in Berkhamsted today.
There were a few challenges I wanted to enter this week, but with all the things that have been going on, I haven't really done that much crafting, so I dedicated this morning to a couple of challenges and today's pic is the first one.
This is for Corrosive Challenges #103 - you get the chance to be a DT too, how exciting! Here is their sketch and today's pic is my card.
I decided to turn the sketch around and make my card landscape, I used Canford card, 2 peas in a bucket digital stamps and papers, Martha Stewart zig zag punch, Hero Arts 'Hello!'stamp, Colour Box Peony ink, Stickles glitter glue, adhesive gems, Amethyst and Bluebell promarkers.
I am very happy with this card, I think it works really well and I think I will send it to my friend Liz in New Zealand.
Happy Saturday to you, see you tomorrow!

I really wanted to enter the Do You Stack Up challenge this week - #6 Ribbons (use it anyway), so I rushed home last night and made this beauty!

I am really happy with this card - I like the subtlety of the ribbon (which is from WHSmith, as is the flower embellishment) the card is by Canford, the sentiment stamp is by Hero Arts and one of my faves at the moment and the corner punch was a Christmas bargain from Hobbycraft. I only bought the ribbon and the embellishment last week (naughty), I really like them, the ribbon had four other designs on the reel and you get 8 embellishments for 1.49, complete with the blingy brad - amazing!
Anyway, that's it from me this morning, Happy Wednesday everyone!

Post Film Club Blues....
Film Club happens approx every six weeks and last night was the second meeting of Film Club. It consists of myself, Hubby and our friends JJ and Jon. We watch some obscure stuff and there is always a horror movie in the list of 3 films!
We has so much fun yesterday, which just enhanced the happy feeling of the last few days (reasons why to be shared later in the week).
So when I got home today, I made the card below, for the following challenges -
Get Funky - Funky Hand make really cool papers and stamps - mainly digital, I love their stuff. Their challenge is Going Round in Circles (my papers and central feature of the card fit this)
Sketch n Stash - Challenge #54 (sketch below), here they ask that you use new/neglected items.
I like this card a lot, I think it works well. I used neglected papers from Funky Hand's Salt and Pepper set, coredinations beige textured cardstock, new stamps from Hobbycraft and new brilliance lightning black ink.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Relaxed and happy!
...yep, that is me.
Hubby and I took 2 days off last weekend and went to Deal - it's a Kent seaside town, it was lovely! The hotel we stayed in was perfect, we walked along the beach and ate and drank way too much.
The happy mini holiday buzz hasn't left me yet and its a great feeling considering how stressful the last few weeks have been
Because I was away, I didn't get much of a chance to craft last week and since I have been back, I have been watching basketball and getting an early night!
I am aiming to resume craft duties as normal tomorrow evening, so I can enter a few challenges this week - entering challenges really makes me smile!
Today's pic is of beautiful Deal.

p.s I have actually finished the diary cover - just been lazy abt retrieving the pics off of my camera!

Easy to be charitable!
Hey there, today I delivered my first batch of cards to Support Our Soliders. They are a non-political, non-profit organisation that send care packages and various other things to our Soliders that are abroad.
I saw an article where they were asking for cardmakers to donate generic cards for Soliders to send to their loved ones. I thought this was a lovely idea and means that I get to do something charitable, whilst doing something I love.
It's quite easy to forget about all the Soldiers that are away from home, as we go about our day to day lives, but we should always remember that wherever they are in the world they are defending our right to freedom and any support we can offer, no matter how small, is always greatly received.
In honour of British Soldiers everywhere - today's pic is a good old Union Jack.

Yum! Sunday Dinner!
Yes, I love Sunday dinner! Hubby and I had roast beef and it was delicious!
Aside from consuming dinner (and working), I put the finishing touches to the Valentine's cards and decided I would post my card for the following 2 challenges -
Do You Stack Up - #4 Patterned Paper
Corrosive Challenges - #100 Reuse, Reduce, Recycle
I like this card because it's really simple and has special meaning as my friend Lianne is moving to Dubai and she gave me some buttons that she had and couldn't take with her, so I re-used her re-cycled buttons, sweet! I think Lianne would be pleased at how I have used the button.
The striped paper is by American Crafts and the blue embossed spotty paper is by coredinations, which I embossed using a Cuttlebug folder (in my Textured Impressions Embosser). The birthday stamp was free and I used Navy Hobbycraft ink. The blue corrugated card flower is by Craft Essentials and they come in 3 colours.
Lianne also gave me some offcuts of fabric and I am going to make a mobile for Lucy & Stu's new baby, using them.
I've also finished the diary cover, so I'll post pics of that later on in the week.

Having fun...
Today has been a fun day, I've been shopping with my Ma, watched Basketball with Hubby and spent a couple of hours in the craft room.
I've been tidying up, playing with some of my new toys, making Valentine's cards and a couple of cards for challenges.
Today's pic is the card I made to cover 3 challenges -
Polka Doodles - There is no place like home
Kaboodle Doodle - #51 Bling it up
Mojo Monday - #175 (sketch is below)
I'm really pleased with this card, I think it's fun and is a reflection of what a nice day I've had.
I used the following items to make this card -
Gingham Paper - Nikki Sivils 'my sweet cherry pie'
Stripe Circle / Green Paisley rectangle - Heidi Grace
Stamp - no idea who it's by, I got it at Jemcraft Memories
Ribbon - Tesco
Bow / Pins / Gems / Red Circle - Local craft shop

Say thanks!
I realised today that I have done nothing but moan lately. Which is unhealthy!
What do you do to get over yourself? Focus on the good parts of life!
So with that in mind, I was trawling through all the blogs I love and Tara over at Create-a-Holic had posted an entry about needing to craft to remain sane, so I know it's not just me!
Tara has just given me a stylish blog award - which is really sweet and has made me chuffed to pieces.
In order to continue, I have to pass it on to 8 other bloggers and tell you 8 things about myself.
- I love my Hubby very much, he makes me smile, even when I don't want to
- I'm going to be an Auntie soon and I am excited!
- I am a Tottenham Hotpurs fan and I was a season ticket holder for 11 years and it hurts that I had to give it up
- Hubby and I spend hours watching basketball
- I like to sing - esp karaoke in my living room
- I love animal print and my dress, the evening of our wedding was Leopard!
- I'm addicted to fabric, stationery and wool
- I am way more girly than I admit to myself.
Pam Wilson - Chicks of a Feather
Alice aka Futuregirl - Futuregirl Craft Blog
Randy - I have to say..
Denise - The Crafty Den
Sarah & Rebecca - Polkadot Door Designs (counting as 2 as they have different styles and I love them both!)
Mary - Stampin' Pretty
Deena - That I would be good
Have a fantastic weekend - I am going to be crafting up a storm.
