Retro Rubber Challenge #139 Buttoned Up..

Hey,

Welcome to another fun Retro Rubber challenge.

This time we have a fun embellishment challenge for you -

I actually have a very large button collection, a lot of it was my Nana's and I was actually planning to use some of it for this card, but then I came across these amazing paper buttons! I think I bought these approx 13-14 years ago!! And I totally forgot I had them - talk about retro :)

I decided that one of the large buttons would be good enough for my card and I wanted to make something that was a paper hug for a friend and I wanted it to have texture.

I found a scrap piece of Tim Holtz watercolour woodgrain paper and I smooshed a mix of distress inks and shimmer spray ink onto the paper. Once it was dry, I heat embossed the sentiment from the AMuse Studios 'Fierce' set that I have had since 2017.

As the scrap was square, I went with a square card base. I covered the front with brown corrugated card and I found a really nice piece of embossed pale blue paper in my stash (sadly you can't see the embossing that well in my photo) and I thought it tied the whole card together nicely, as the button has a touch of blue in it.

A really simple but impactful paper hug for my friend.

How will you use buttons on your project? Hop on over to Retro Rubber and get inspired by the things the DT have made.

Challenge ends July 24th.

Don't forget to tell us the age of your stamp, which is part of the fun of our challenge, and please only enter 10 challenges including Retro Rubber.

  3. This is just the cutest card and I love that fun little paper button! The background for that sentiment is just beautiful! I have fond memories of always spending time sorting through my grandmother's button box as a child and I still have the original Whitman's candy box she used to keep them in after all these decades! Buttons are fun!
