Retro Rubber Challenge #54...Let it Snow..

Hey,

Time for another awesome Retro Rubber challenge.

This time we want you to  use snow on your card -

I am not a big fan of snow, living in NYC it can be a bit much for this Londoner... But I do like making pretty snow based cards :)

I learnt this awesome technique in Cheiron's holiday class last year.

Basically you blend together your inks, starting with the light one and work up to a darker colour. Then flick your blended paper with water and lay a paper towel over it - voila! Instant snow effect - ah.mazing!!

I love it and have totally been over using this lately..

Once I had my background I dug out two stamp sets by Simon Says Stamp (Hand Lettered Wishes from 2015 and Cute Snowflakes from Jan 2016 - both from SSS cardkits ).

I stamped the sentiment in Navy Blue and the snowflakes and flourishes in Grey. I wish I had considered stamping snowflakes in Grey before!! They look so much better.

I added a couple of teeny bits of bling to finish it all off.

I love the Wintry feel of my card.

Your turn to get your snow on, but first go over to Retro Rubber and see what my awesome teammates have been making.

Challenge ends on January 27th don't forget to tell us how old your stamp is, that is half the fun :) And please limit your challenge entries to 10 including ours.

  1. Claire, I totally have to try this technique for "snow" effect... how delightful. You are so right about the Grey too! I need to keep an eye out for a sentiment similar to this... perfect for the stash! Thinking about you today!!!

  2. I am so loving that snow effect technique, I will have to try it, because it really sets your card in motion, and the finishing touches of bling is always delightful. Great Job.

  3. Great background technique! The grey for snowflakes is perfect, and the little hearts add just the right touch of whimsy! Can't forget the bling either! Love the sentiment, might have to remember it for future use!

  5. Using the grey does look good! From the photo, I'd wondered if it was a metallic pewter. Great background technique - did you have trouble getting the right sized splats of water? I always do but I suppose that the uncertainty of the outcome is part of the charm! I really like the way you've added in little hearts as well as snowflakes.

  6. Awesome technique Claire and it looks amazing, sounds simple to make so I must give this a try. Sometimes when I try to do water splatters, I end up with very big ones that do not look good at all so, I need more practice.
But your card looks lovely, it has the effect on the eyes of snow blown by wind.
Sweet little snow flakes on it, just a beautiful snowy card.
    Big Hugs,
    Maria.
